I first heard this album in 1972 and it was instantly my favorite of Jimmy's .

Classic Jimmy Smith from the ORIG Newport Jazz F, in Rhode Island. The pressing is perfect, and allows us to experience the big band hits, with Jimmy's B3 ride's. Just a pleasure to revisit keyboard jazz from the past.

Albums don't get much better than this. Everything about it works, from Jimmy Smith's incredible playing to Lalo Schifrin's amazing charts. And that band? Verve was simply the greatest label back in the 1960s - what a musical world it was back then. I miss those days, because the junk we get today is not up to these great albums.
