This is a great REAL LIFE story. Written so well that you almost feel you know some of the characters involved. The emotional ups and down of family life connected with me emotionally. Funny stories, including the portable potty business made me laugh out loud. I highly recommend this book. There are many books that attempt to describe some of the history that surrounded the mob families but this book felt very real and gave a glimpse into the "other side" of that world.

Misleading Title, Save Your Money.
I bought this for a friend as a gift. He is an organized crime expert. After he read it, he told me the book was mostly about the son and not Charlie Workman, legendary staff hitman for Lepke in the garment rackets. My friend says the very few words about the father ("Handsome Charlie") were lifted right from a New York Times article about when Charlie got out of prison in 1964. You could read that on-line and save your money on this book. The book has very little to say about the fascinating Dad who helped whack The Dutchman in 1935.You're better off buying and reading "Kill The Dutchman" by Paul Sann, the story of the taking of Dutch Schultz and three of his associates. The son's life is about as exciting as watching paint dry.

"An Offer You Can't Refuse"
Here’s an offer you shouldn’t refuse, unless you want to miss out on the best Mafia tales since Clemenza left the gun and took the Cannoli.Except it’s better than a movie. “From Murder Incorporated to the PGA Tour” is like sitting in a darkened Italian bar sipping anisette while listening to the faithful son of revered gangland legend weave memory magic.Known as “Handsome Charlie” to the ladies, it was Charlie “The Bug” Workman who took out Dutch Shultz in October of 1935, later paying for the crime with twenty-three years in Trenton State Prison. Charlie, widely regarded as the most effective and trusted hit man of his generation, never talked.Chuck Workman was there for all of it – with many godfathers who honored his Dad by watching over Chuck and his Mom with financial security and, more importantly, loyal affection and deep respect. Chuck Workman heard all the stories month after month -- year after year. He shares them all in this book with honest pride – holding nothing back.I had the honor of spending some time with Chuck Workman and found him to be an extraordinary storyteller ---- an uncommon man having risen to quiet national prominence through both fate and fortune. This excellent book captures much of his essence, although words alone cannot do justice to a life filled with dangerous adventure. Peter Cimino is to be congratulated for this wonderful collaboration.
