I left it it over night and had caught 5 small cray fish however I put it back and two escaped so doesn’t work as a keep net. Good quality. Reasonably priced.

As a boy Mum, ranging from 5 -19 years (plus my husband lol), one of their absolute favourite things to do on holiday is go crabbing. We have had similar styles to this one before and these styles are great for chucking in the water and leaving them there for the bigger crabs to come in and get trapped in, while the kids faff about going up and down with the smaller handheld ones. The problem with this is, it does mean the sea water makes them rusty and eventually fall apart. You might be able to preserve the life by washing them in clean, running water afterwards, but to be honest, I'm just too lazy to do that! I also have no idea how they fair in fresh water. This particular one is very thin and flimsy and is definitely one of the cheaper ones we've had. We caught medium sized and small crabs with it on our last holiday and the biggest crab did make a little nip in the netting, nothing too major, but a bigger crab would be able to do some decent damage. But it did exactly what we wanted, kids were happy, a fair amount of crabs got some bacon and now it is safely stored away with the sea water rotting away at the metal as I haven't cleaned it, again! Overall, for a family wanting to go crabbing on holidays or breaks away, this is a great low cost item that will do the job for the odd trip and won't break the bank. However, for an avid adult fisher who goes every week, I have my doubts on the longevity of this item.
