Pete the Cat 12-Book Phonics Fun!

Pete the Cat has become a huge part of our family routine, and this 12-Book Phonics Fun! set has been an absolute treasure for my 2 1/2-year-old daughter. She loves Pete the Cat so much that we’ve started watching the cartoon together on Amazon Prime, and she even gets a Pete the Cat sticker every morning before school. It’s become such an important routine for her that skipping it would lead to a meltdown! These books are the perfect size for little hands, and they’re so easy to read. The stories are simple but engaging, with a phonics-based structure that makes them great for helping young children learn to read. Even at her age, my daughter knows the stories so well that she can tell me what’s happening on each page. She doesn’t always get the words exactly right, but her enthusiasm and understanding are incredible to watch. What I really love about Pete the Cat is how wholesome and positive the character is. His stories teach important lessons about sharing, kindness, and being a good friend—all in a way that’s fun and easy for kids to understand. Pairing these books with the cartoon really brings the stories to life and helps kids connect with Pete’s cool-cat personality. For me, these books also hold a special place in my heart. My mom, who was a kindergarten and pre-K teacher before she retired, instilled a love of reading in me and always emphasized how important it is for children’s development. She passed away earlier this year, and when I saw these books on Amazon, my daughter immediately called them “Mimi books” (what she called my mom). I had to buy them. Seeing how much joy they bring to my daughter reminds me of my mom’s love for teaching and reading. This set is a fantastic value—12 books for such a great price! The stories are short, so we can read several at a time without feeling overwhelmed. My daughter loves bringing them to me, then to her mom, and sometimes even to her Pop to read. With so many books to choose from, it keeps things fresh and fun. If you’re looking for an engaging, educational, and heartwarming book series for your little one, you can’t go wrong with Pete the Cat. These books are simple enough for early readers but still fun for parents to read aloud. Highly recommend them for any child or as a gift for a young reader in your life!

These are great high interest books for beginning readers! There are repeated, predictable sentences that support new readers. I got these for my granddaughter who is a current kindergartener. She loves them and feels confident when reading them.

As a parent always on the lookout for tools that make learning enjoyable, I can confidently say this Pete the Cat phonics set is a winner! My child (age 2) absolutely loves Pete the Cat, so combining that familiar character with early reading practice has been a huge success in our home. The quality of the materials is solid, and the colorful illustrations keep things engaging. The stories are silly and upbeat—just like Pete himself—which makes learning feel like play. I highly recommend this set. It’s groovy, educational, and honestly, a joy to use!

Easy reader books for a youngster.

I bought his set for my 6 year old in kindergarten to supplement the leveled readers he is being sent home with daily for practice. He loves Pete the Cat and I felt he was getting the same books a lot, and that this would help with variety. I was hesitant to order at fist because there was no level or words per page or photos to help me figure out if these were appropriate, but I took a chance and glad I did! He is a solid level C reader according to his teacher, and this set of phonics books focusing on vowels is perfect. Plenty of site words and repeated phrases, with some longer, trickier words mixed in. With a read through first, and a little help when he needs it, he has no problem tackling these words. You may recoconize these modified versions of existing Pete the Cat stories, shortened, and reformatted using a simple bold font on the left page and illustrations on the right (except for last page). The colorful, familiar pictures offer clues to help with the unique words that are not sight words, which is a strategy they are using in school. For example- when the last page in the "Bad Banana" book introduces the word orange, there is a picture of pete with an orange to help them figure it out using their "eagle eye." Each book focuses on a specific long or short vowel sound, and has an intro page with a list of words to read through that have the sound, plus other words they will see, which is really helpful. Overall this is a really well thought out set, nicely contained in a neat little handled box. Spot on for beginning readers at or around this level. There are roughly 25 word per book on average. When we are through I will probably donate this to his kindergarten class, although not until next school year since I think we will comfortably use this set through spring and summer and into fall before being totally past them.

Great short story book set for your beginning reader. Each book uses repetition of each vowel so your child will know how to sound out the words when they see them in other contexts. Pete the cat has been entertaining kids for years and each book will allow your child to feel success as a beginning reader.

Muy curiosa esta lectura dirigida, amena. No me ha gustado que los libros van encuadernados con grapas, para niños lo veo peligroso aunque no he visto ningún incidente por ello. Hojas de grosor de cartulina, no especialmente resistentes. Materiales justitos, para un contenido OK. Tamaño manejable.

My kids loved these books. They are also shorter so her can read more :)
