Danielson Bait Cage

This worked very well when zip-tied to the bottom ring of my crab hoop net. It is very durable, and I had no issues with crabs eating all of my bait. The door lock is easy to operate, and keeps the door closed securely. I recommend this for crab fishing!

This is a great cage. I had this shipped to me last minute for a crabbing trip. It held a bunker all day while my brother-in-law lost about 4 in the same time period. Definitely saves you on bait. Glad I bought it. Only thing that would make it better is if it came with a zip tie to tie it to your crab trap.

This bait cage mostly does the job, and I've caught many many crab with this in just a few outings, so something must be going right! I zip tied it to the bottom of my folding crab trap with a couple tiny little zip ties and it has held up well from the wear so far. No rusting, no peeling of the plastic/paint covering the metal, and the elastic hook that holds it closed is in good shape.Still, there are a few unsavory qualities that you should know about before you make the commitment to buy it! The first is that the wire is rather thin, and the openings rather big, so crab will absolutely destroy your bait, if it is mushy, small, or generally sloppy. I have a secret concoction (don't all crabbers) that fortunately can make it into the bait box intact, but you just might get covered in mess while loading your bait into the box.That said, I do think this is nicer that the other cheap, readily available alternatives, and with the addition of an inner more tightly covered bait jar it's been instrumental in my summertime catch :)

Keeps the chicken drumsticks in tact on my crab rings and Danielson cages. I zip tie each bait cage in the middle of the traps vertically with the door on top for easy access. While everybody's chicken on the dock gets eaten up, my bait stays nearly untouched, and yes there are multiple crabs on each pull. Cat food cans also fit inside with about 4-5 pieces of chicken or more.

Use chicken in this cage and has held up very well so far.

The bait cage looked good until it was used. This weekend I put bait in the cage, close the cage door and secure the door with attached hook, put the cage in the crab trap and drop into the sea. After 40 minutes I pull the crab trap from the water and found the door of the cage was gone. What a crabby product!

Cheap price, easy to fill in bait, and the perfect size (at least for me). Used it on a few trips now and barely lose any bait on any of the trips. I did put it in the cage trap but still works perfect for my situation.

Bought these for some crab pots. The grid is a bit too large in my opinion. The crab are able to extract your bait a bit too easily because they can pick through the openings. Otherwise they seem to be well made. Maybe I just bought the wrong product for crab pots.

There is no measurements on this page. I'm not sure why it's so big when you use a couple pieces of old fish or chicken to catch crabs. This thing could fit half a chicken in it, if you have a small trap this will take up a bunch of room.Other than that - the quality is good but you have to be aware that it's over 20cm long.
