2008 Jeep Wrangler JKU
2008 Jeep Wrangler JKU Automatic I was stuck at a gas station during a 10 hour drive to attend a family wedding. I put my vehicle in park and the vehicle continues to roll forward. I shut the vehicle off and pull the e-brake. I look under the vehicle and I see the broken white bushing l. (Pictured) I ordered this part on the way up, delivered to my father's house. Like some of the reviews say THE PART DOES NO FIT. That is correct, HOWEVER if you use a hairdryer and heat the bushing up for 30-45 seconds on high heat. (I did this right underneath the Jeep. I was able to get it into the cable linkage and then fit it into place. Once I figured that out it was pretty easy to install. I drove to the destination with zip ties and drove back with the plastic piece on. The drive was just under 10 hours straight and I had no issues. I would absolutely buy this product again for the $6.50 two pack. If anything drastic happens I will come back and update.

Right Part, Tight Fit, Needed some Heat.
These worked perfectly on my ‘07 wrangler after I warmed them up in the oven at 180 degrees for about 10 minutes. Without heat, the part was too rigid to install. I could have used a heat gun but I wanted to make sure the temp didn’t get too high and affect the plastic.

HEAT IT UP IN WATER!!!!!!!!!!! Don’t waste your time. IT WORKS.
Bought this for my 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited X Sahara 2WD because the shifter linkage broke on the bottom near the transmission and I got stuck on reverse. The reviews are right, grab some boiling water (heat some up in a cup in the microwave for a min or two) drop it in the cup, after a min or so take it out when you’re near the shift linkage (make sure you don’t spill water on yourself) and QUICKLY put it in the hole! If you don’t do this within 15 seconds, the piece will harden again and it will not go in. Heating it up in the water makes it malleable for a few seconds so that it can go in. I wouldn’t recommend using lubricants to get it to work as this can just cause it to fall off and defeat its purpose. Also, I’m a woman and this is a fairly easy fix and I don’t know a thing about cars so if I can do it, so can you 🙂

With modifications it fit 2007 Sequoia
-one star only because these barely fit the shifter linkage stud of my 2007 Sequoia’s transmission shifter cable. But I did make it work by having to just take a razor blade to the lip of it. Many test fits to just remove a little at a time. Yes I tried leaving it in boiling water, nope. FYI Toyota doesn’t sell just this part, you have to buy the complete cable for a few hundred dollars. So I am glade I had to take knife to threaten this little plastic guy because for the money it was absolutely worth it.

Not pliable, the lip is too small
These can only be installed by pressing them in like a ball joint, then the lip is damaged and won't retain the cable end. In my frustration of working with 3 of them and extreme fears of frustration I finally went to the dealer and bought the OEM, which while still rigid was pliable enough to push in by hand, and was retained when I popped it back off. I imagine if they would have a slightly larger lip on the exterior they would last longer, but this was a poor product.

Fits the shifter boot. Material is a little too hard.
Material is a little too hard, does not click on very easily to the shifter post. Helps to heat up some hot water and let it sit in the water for a minute to soften it up to ease installation.
