Q: can this be converted for horses? removing the spinners and adding a funnel?

You can't remove the spinners. Without them it would just plug up. However, if you added some kind of tube around the spinner to direct the grain down it would work as a horse feeder.

Q: Does it include the battery?

It came with a AA battery that only powers the timer. You will still need to purchase a 6v Lantern battery to run the spreader.

Q: does it have to use AA batteries and 6 volt too?

They use one AA and a 6volt battery. They also make a 6 volt solar charging battery and a solar charger if you wanted to spend the extra money for them. We’ve been using these on our hunting preserve for at least 20 years and the only suggestion I have is it’s better to buy the ones with the squirrel cage already on them .

NO! Even from 2014 they have not gotten a clue and provided a pre-drilled bucket! Very sad.
