I received a unit where the outer ring was not welded to the cross member that holds the spring plunger. Item is non-functional.

My old patty stacker is on "loan" to my niece's 4-plex college dorm. Gone for good, I think! So, I wanted a replacement. My most frequent use is making up patties ahead of time, whether for freezing or a BBQ later in the day. I weight the meat portions on a small kitchen scale, which keeps the size even and makes the burger patties consistent. I read some reviews of these, and I was hesitant - "thin sheet metal" "popped welds," no measuring scale were some of the complaints. I purchased this brand as it had the best overall ratings, and was stainless steel and easy-to-clean. Delivery was 24 hours(!) and opening the box, I was impressed right off. The press is not thin sheet metal, it's a solid cylinder with a graduated scale inside the tube. the plunger and spring come apart and re-assemble easily - clean-up was very quick. The overall fit and finish is very good - the bottom edge is nicely finished, and all the parts are thick stainless steel, not flexible sheet metal. I have not made a single burger patty yet, but I think this is a winner. I weigh the meat mixture on a kitchen scale - a measuring cup would also work. If I'm freezing the patties, or making several, I use wax or "silicone wax" paper between them. I have some precut squares on hand, nominally 5 inches square. I put down one sheet, put the portion of meat on that, and put the press over that. In my first tries, I found I didn't need to put a 2nd paper on top - the "pusher plate" came away cleanly. However, it would be easy to use 2 papers, top and bottom - I'll probably do that if I'm freezing the patties. My "test pieces" came out perfectly round and perfectly even. The edges are not ragged, so I don't think the burgers will break up on the grill - we'll see. I might buy some round wax paper sheets the next time I order, although I don't think the square ones will cause problems.I am more than a little impressed with this item, right out of the box. The materials are very good quality and it seems very well made. I think it will more than do whatever I need. I particularly like the even thickness and even release, whether the size is thin or thick. I had no problems with anything sticking to the upper plate.If it explodes, then I'll update this review. So far, I'm impressed. I guess my niece can keep the old tube stacker for the dormitory.

Works really well to achieve consistent patties. I weigh the mince and make 750g patties. Using a baking paper square to buffer the meat from the device results in no sticking and easy to get out

I use a patty paper under and on top of the ground meat before pressing for easy removal. Makes a perfect patty every time.

This works fantastic! I pre make my own burgers for cookouts and this is fast, consistent, easy to use and easy to clean 👍
