okay, if you don't mind having to break up the block
you can't break these up nicely, or without them crumbling apart. They are too dense until broken, and then only break evenly on one side. Will go back to my other sort when I have used these up.On the plus, despite having to over use the amount due to the reason above, they light well and get the fire going. I am super picky about trying to economise with firelighters, so don't find these will be suitable for my preferences in the future.

So happy to have come across this product!
Initially bought it for my husband but now using it myself as it is so simple and easy to get the fire started. Also, these are natural so no bad odour. Will be buying again, thanks.

Very happy with this product!
Honestly - they are fantastic! We have a log burner, which they are perfect for. Normally it’s a nightmare getting it startedWas a little sceptical about the effectiveness of the firelighters however, not only are they quick to light they can be pulled apart to cover a larger area.Let’s just say... I would buy them again and again and again. We don’t have to mess about with kindling... we use one of these and then put the logs above or on either side of it. It’s small, neat, compact and totally odour free. It holds its flame for quite sometime. Cannot fault it.Came in a well packaged sturdy cardboard box. Would highly recommend.

The best fire lighters I’ve used
These firefighters are the best I’ve ever used. Firstly it’s nice to get a really big box as I am forevermore forgetting to buy smaller boxes. I also like the design of the box, it reminds me of being in a log cabin somewhere! The most noticeable thing about the firefighters is that they are brown and look a bit like compressed cardboard, they are made from sawdust and beget oil which is so much nicer than the white ones which smell of chemicals and the smell gets your fingers, bits of them fall off and get in the carpet etc. Wood chip and vegetable oil smells of very little and it certainly dosent transfer on to your hands. The slabs of blocks are also quite thick which means you can use a few less than normal.Lighting the fire lighters was impressive, they took straight away and burned for a really long time, at least as long as normal firelighters if not longer.Overall I prefer these firelighters to any others because they are just much nicer to use and nicer to the environment.

Perfect for bushcraft camping for small wood stoves 🔥
I do a lot of cooking outdoors , bushcraft cooking using Wood stoves , Kelly kettles and camp fires and these natural firelighters are perfect for getting fires going in all conditions, they burn long enough to get your wood stove going using just one or two blocks, they are great for Kelly and ghillie kettles too.I like that they are 100% natural, compressed wood and vegetable oils, they are good for the environment and have no nasty scents, they come well packaged and compact, they are easy to separate when needed and you get a lot in the box , they should last a while. They are a good alternative to natural found tinder such as fatwood and birch bark, they would make an excellent addition to any fire kit.I'll be using these for my outdoors wood stoves but they could also be good for starting bonfires or BBQs.An excellent set of natural firelighting blocks , ideal for bushcraft enthusiasts, camping , bbqs, or just for a back garden fire or fire pit.Excellent quality, I'd definitely consider purchasing more in the future , very handy blocks for wood stoves.

Good burn time and easy to use
I've used various firelighters over the years, normally relying on the wax covered balls of wood shavings. The problem with them is they tend to break up and messy to use and take up more space to store them. These Mulholland's natural lighters are ideal. They come in compact chocolate bar shaped slabs, and because they have been cut slightly on both sides they actually break off into squares. I've tried something similar before but it wasn't indented on both sides so it didnt break into strips and tended to just flake. No issues like that with these.I tested the burn time on one square and it went out after 8mins 13 sec so within the burn rate time advertised. Very little to no smoke came off, and odourless when burning but you can smell the vegetable oil in the box. I managed to get a fire going with just 1 square, 2 would have been quicker but even using two squares this box set will start 144 fires or BBQ's so overall good value. They light instantly and work well holding a flame for over 8 minutes, very easy to store so would recommend.

Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire
These "Mulholland's Firelighters" are every bit as good as chemical firelighters when it comes to starting a fire, in fact, we would say they are actually better, because they appear to burn longer, although the individual blocks are marginally bigger. The benefits of swapping traditional chemical firelighters with natural firelighters should be obvious; they burn cleaner, so there's no noxious odours, and of course, they are more environmentally friendly.A price of £15.99 might seem expensive, but the box of 288 blocks should last throughout the autumn and winter months, if using one block for a fire within the home (with the assistance of kindling). Even for the rest of the year, during the warmer months, these should still prove to be great value for money, because you will only need a couple blocks for your barbecue, or to get your fire pit going.
