Outstanding!
I can't recommend this E collar enough. We have a now 1 year chocolate lab (named Mocha) and right around the 8-10 month mark she became very testy with us. It was like having a teenager in dog form lol. Anyways I used the E Collar orginally for off leash training with Mocha and it worked extremely well. As long as you know how to use it properly the dog will catch on very fast. To train Mocha on it I followed these steps... 1. I made sure Mocha had a solid foundation of training commands in the house such as sit, down, come, stay and so on. Inside is easy compared to outside with the many distractions and smells outside. 2. I then took her outside using a 100ft drag line and basically repeated these commands. Every time she listened such as coming to me I would give her a treat. If she didn't respond on the fist time, I would vibrate her and give her the command again. At this point, if she didn't listen after 2 attempts at the command she would get shocked with the command again. Believe me I can tell you how many times (handful of times) I have shocked her because dogs quickly understand they need to listen to our commands and they don't want to be shocked. The shock function goes up to 100 and I originally started it with level 12 but we leave it at level 29 which is the "sweet spot" for Mocha. Mocha is approximately 60+ lbs and is extremely active so she needs a little bit more "umph" to affect her and get her attention. 3. Within days, I didn't even need the drag line because Mocha knew she wasn't going to just run off, she quickly paid attention at all times awaiting commands or playing fetch with a toy. 4. I used this exclusively for recall training at first but ended up using it for Mochas teenageness as well lol. Now for her testiness that was the teenager phase as my wife and I called it...in the house when she would for the lack of a better phrase get bratty with us. We would simply pick up the E collar remote and she would quickly listen or stop doing what we were telling her to stop doing. Every now and then a vibrate but its extremely rare she gets shocked because she knows the vibrate is her warning. Anyways Mocha is a completely different dog within just days of having this E collar, she listens, she doesn't test her boundaries anymore (partially because she's grown up too) but now we have complete control over her. Like I said earlier in this review, if you the E collar properly, there is nothing inhumane about it. Its not a punishment tool, its a reinforcement/ attention tool. Also your dog needs to know what your asking of them, so they need to have the solid foundation of commands from the get go. And you need to work that in with using the E collar so your not just telling them to sit and shocking them for not listening, then they wont get it. Kind of hard to explain, but for people who use this and know what I am talking about, know. Seek professional training advice if you need or use Youtube which has plenty of videos teaching how to teach your dog tons of things! I know this E collar is expensive, BUT I have tried 2 of the cheaper ones and they never really worked. As soon as I got this one, it worked right away and the battery life is phenomenal! I end up throwing on the charger every few days but I have found it charges so fast that I dont even need to throw it on that much. Mocha wears this collar pretty much all day when my wife and or I are home. If your serious about your dog training, this is worth every single penny! The collar band is decent, but kind of a pain, I have never been a fan of the belt style collars for dogs, I like metal snap buckles or cobra buckles. So I upgraded the collar to a k9tactical E collar which was only $25 and it has a cobra buckle simple easy on and off. I love this E collar even more because of it! Turning the collar on and off is actually pretty neat, it uses a magnetic part on the remote which is a little red cirlce then you touch the remotes little red dot to a little red dot on the collars receiver thus turning the receiver on. The remote turns on and off buy a button easy peasy. The other buttons are extremely intuitive, one side is one button which is the vibrate and the other side is 2 buttons which you know are the shock buttons when using the remote meaning you don't need to look at the remote when you use it. Update as of 8/3/2020: Collar and remote are still going strong. The antenna has a couple chips of plastic missing but we also abuse this remote/ collar. It goes on hikes, swimming in lakes, rolling in the grass in the snow in all weather conditions whatever mocha throws at it lol still couldn’t recommend it enough! The only thing I wish it had was some sort of battery level indicator for the remote and collar but otherwise it’s still running great!

This collar is a great tool and communication device - blown away! ..AND great customer service!
UPDATE May 26, 2016. After having this collar for a year now we still love it. We use it every day, and it has been a real champ. We had our first issue this week; the collar was responding to the controller intermittently. We thought it was a battery the first couple times we noticed it, but the battery was charged, and the LEDs were lighting up as expected when the buttons were pressed. After fooling around with it, I realized it would work sometimes and not others, depending on the orientation of the collar. It seems there is a loose wire in it somewhere. I called E-Collar Technologies - their phone number is on the back of the handset, and told them what was up. They offered to replace it - I have to send back the original so they can inspect it and see what happened. What great customer service! I was prepared to pay to have it repaired, and was blown away by how nice the person on the phone was. That makes me even more happy about using these training collars, knowing the manufacturer stands behind them! (Our other collar, purchased from a professional dog trainer is still going strong!) Thank you, E-Collar Technologies! I have been using the Educator collar for a couple of weeks now. We have two of them for our two dogs. I have tried another brand of training collar - a more basic, bargain priced unit, and this Educator blows that one away. It has been wonderful to work with my dogs using this collar. Our first Educator came as a part of some professional dog training we are doing for our GSD in Savannah, GA. They use these collars and taught us how to use them effectively. Things went so well with this collar that we bought another one from Amazon for our other dog, a lab mix. What I really like about these collars is the adjustable levels. The stimulus ranges from 0-100, plus it has a "tap" button that is just a small vibrate function. The other collar we had only had three levels on the remote - vibrate, low, and high. Low was too much and it really bothered our dog. With this system, you only use as much stimulus as is required to communicate with your dog. It doesn't hurt - I have zapped myself with it in my hand at around level 15. It's a tingling sensation that absolutely gets my attention, but it doesn't hurt, per se. We live at the beach and like to take our dogs on the beach. Being able to recall them over long distances is a great bonus for these collars. We just like to have our dogs off the leash whenever we can - they much prefer that to being on the end of a leash. To do that, they have to be well trained in order to keep them safe. The red emergency button is nice too, because if the dog really does something that might endanger it, you can get its attention and get it back to you safely. Our trainer and the folks that recommended him to us told us that the training process would really increase the bond with our dog, and they were right. It has been great. In just a couple of weeks, there is an amazing increase in the dog's attentiveness, tail wagging, and affection. It has NOT scared our dog or made the dog afraid of us at all. Both our dogs love to go out and practice their training, especially the GSD. The collar that comes with this is nice and shouldn't get really stinky like some other kinds of leashes. The collar must be tight on the neck to work properly, although we take it off every night and when we're away from the house for any period of time. We also switch sides of the neck to keep from creating skin irritation. The collar is very well made, and we're told it's water-proof. We haven't had either one submerged in a pool or the ocean yet, but they are warrantied if something goes wrong. The collar is VERY long, so once you fit it to your dog you have to trim it shorter with a pair of scissors. The handset is very comfortable for me and my wife although I have an easier time with it than she does because I have bigger hands. If you don't need the distance, the 1/2 mile version has a smaller handset. It is comfortable feel and easy to hold on to. We have practiced using it one-handed, and within a few days it is easy to dial up and down as needed and reach the buttons. The collar and the hand set get charged every night, and it comes with an A/C wall adapter. Both units have receptacle covers when not being charged. The magnetic on and off switch for the collar is nice - when you put the collar on in the morning you have to match up the dot on the hand set with the dot on the collar. It prevents the dog from accidentally turning it off. (Incidentally, the other brand we used had a push power button on the collar, and a couple of times the dog somehow turned it off!) One feature I thought was a little silly at first is that the collar has white LED's on it which can be set to blink or stay on solid - controlled by the hand set. As it turns out, however, with the darkness and long shadows in our back yard, it is nice to turn on the lights on the collars at night and generally see where the dogs are. Depending on what they are doing with their heads, particularly the GSD with her long hair, you can't always see it, but when they are walking around you can generally see it. Now I like that feature and use it every night. My wife likes the lanyard these come with, although I don't care to wear these things around my neck. I just put it in my pocket or keep it nearby. When I'm training I think the lanyard gets in the way. All in all, we love these collars and the freedom they are giving us to keep our dogs safe and well behaved, especially when off the leash. I was worried that this would feel like hurting the dog, but that hasn't been our experience. Our dogs seem eager to get their collars on in the morning and love to work with them. With proper training (which is why we're using a professional trainer) we really aren't using high level stimulus much at all (except when a dog tries to dart away or something). I highly recommend this collar. If you want great training, look for Off-Leash K-9 training in your area. The GSD rescue we used to adopt our dog recommended them for GSDs because they love to "work". We are very pleased with the whole experience.

It actually works!
Immediately out of the package and onto my puppy, this product is working wonders. Today is day 1 of using this and she went from a dog that didn’t listen to anyone outside into a dog that obeyed. I followed the suggestion to see what level was “baseline”. When inside, our pup will listen at a level 3, I can start to feel a slight sensation on my hand at a level 7, and when outside she needs a level 6. But, I’m telling you, she responds every single time to each command. You can tell that level 6 bothers her but I was pressing on the prongs firmly and could not feel a thing a that level so it makes me feel comfortable using it on her. We had it on her for a little over two hours total today (not utilizing the sensation that whole time) but allowing her to acclimate to it and not associate the collar with the sensation. At the end of that time, the hand control needed a charge. Her collar was fine and didn’t require a charge but the dual charging cable was nice to have. I’ll report back with updates but I can already tell a HUGE difference in my dog and we just started testing it out

happy with purchase and it does work great.
So far so good. there was a learning curve for both the dog and I in how to use, settings, etc. but the dog is responding to tones and "stimulation" depending on which is used. it does seem to be waterproof as she's been in the lake several times and no harm has occurred to the collar. I'm not vigilant enough in checking to see if it's charged up enough because we don't use it every day but it does charge quickly if I forget and let it go dead. I wish the collar were an easier lariat style instead of the typical buckle as she has such a huge ruff of hair around her neck trying to find the buckle is a constant game of hide and seek. will look for alternative collar. I'm happy with the purchase. I bought it because my dog trainer/dog kennel owner friend highly recommended this brand. and I do like the light function on the collar transmitter for finding her in the dark. I'd definitely recommend this e-collar to others.

Causes SEVERE Burns
Although this device has excellent qualities, especially with attention getting no shock vibration, after only a few minor shocks set at only "18" over a four day period, I was brushing my dog and found some matted hair on the lower right side of his neck. After closer examination I found scabbing had formed about 1.75" long under the matted hair. It's been two days since I found the scab over reddened skin on my dog's neck, and after considering there being no other possible means for this injury, I concluded this injury could have only come from having been shocked using the educator shock collar device. The purpose of my review if to make sure potential customers know of the absolute possibility of burns being caused by the educator unit. I believe it is an effective tool in dog training, but be aware that when using the shocking feature of the device (not the vibration feature), even at low settings and unit being used as per manual instructions, can cause severe burns to your dog's skin. The application of the shocks I did apply was only ever momentary... never continuous. I can't imagine what would've happened if the device had been set higher (range is 0 to 100... I was using only 18) and/or the "C" button pressed for "continuous" shock application, and the potential for much more serious burns. Because of my experience, I do not recommend buying this device.

Refreshing design, great quality, excellent support.
I have been using the ET-400TS for over a week. First, I need to comment on an amazingly fast and smooth delivery by Amazon (via DHL) to China - the product was at my door within the same week which I have never had happen before. First impressions of the unit are very positive, especially when compared to a budget remote training collar I originally purchased and promptly returned. The receiver is a nice and compact size and fits well on my Beagle - it feels rock solid in terms of build quality and even after being vigorously put through its paces by my Beagle in a forest and scratching at it once in a while, there is not a scratch or dent to be seen. The LED lighting on the receiver, which is activated remotely, is very effective and ensures my Beagle is always clearly visible at night - whether I am walking with her in the city or in woodland. Very few competing products offer this and it is a useful addition. The transmitter is a very refreshing design which happens to be highly functional and comfortable too. The flexibility of the momentary, continuous or mixed modes including a user-defined boost, is very useful and was one of the deciding factors in me buying the Einstein. The only niggle would be that I would prefer it in a more subtle color (such as the black ET-800TS), but bright yellow makes it difficult to lose if dropped (although there is already a lost transmitter function). Note that this unit has a vibration function while the similarly-priced ET-500 has a tone function - I was a little torn in deciding between the two, but the ET-400 has a smaller receiver which made me go for this one. My Beagle is stubborn and doesn't respond that much to the vibration, despite it being quite strong - although after more use and conditioning, I am using it as a subtle way to get her attention and this appears to be working, lessing the need for any stimulation. A tone may prove similarly ineffective for some dogs/breeds. Ideally, the unit would have tone AND vibration options in addition to the stimulation, making the choice a little easier, although this is just a niggle. In terms of stimulation levels, I have been using level 10-20 (out of 100) with my Beagle and this seems to be more than enough, with the use of a boost very rarely when her prey drive kicks in and goes "all nose". However, after just a week, I am using it on about a level 10 and very infrequently. My primary challenge was fitting since my beagle has very loose skin around her neck - if the receiver is not attached correctly (ie; snugly), the stimulation may not also be delivered properly. Since both overtightening and undertightening are a concern, my advice is to take your time (and some research via instructions and internet) in fitting it correctly. Once you have the correct fitting, I suggest you mark the collar so it can be consistently re-attached with the same tightness. Since using the unit, my Beagle's off-leash behaviour has changed significantly (she would previously play very frustrating "catch me" games when off leash) and I am now primarily using the vibration function and issuing a command to get her attention. I did not use the "escape conditioning" technique but primarily used the collar to correct misbehaviour (running away, eating discarded food, etc.). In addition to my positive experience with the product, I also received very good support and feedback after sending E-Collars an email with a few questions. I can therefore highly recommend the product and the company behind it, who really do appear to be committed to customer satisfaction.

Works great!
This is our 2nd e-collar. I lost the remote to the 1st one we had (or maybe the dog hid it!). We do a lot of off-leash walking, running, bike riding with our dog. He's good 90% of the time but for that 10% when he picks up a scent or decides to bolt... this allows me to give him a buzz and knock his mind off whatever he's chasing. I also use it for general training. The 'vibration' button is typically all he needs. Just a gentle reminder. But if I need to buzz with more emphasis, this does that too. Pros: -Vibration button -Set up (can be confusing but once you read the instructions and understand how it works, it's great) -Customization of the 'shock' intensity and the 'boost' intensity. -The light feature is awesome! Our neighborhood does not have sidewalks so from the remote I can light up our dog's collar and it's bright! Great if you don't know where your pooch is at night too. -Range. Not sure how far this really goes but in general 3/4 of a mile is really far. Our pooch has been pretty far away and I know this has worked every time so far. Cons: The size of the remote is just a little large for me. If you're holding it in your hand all the time it's very well setup. But I like to carry it in my pocket and it's a little big. Not too big though (still fits in my pants pocket). This is a minor complaint. Overall: Great product.

Great e-collar and highly preferred over other brands
I've used other brands of e-collars, and I was initially drawn to the Einstein because of the 100 separate levels of stimulation. I'm a big fan of being able to work a dog at the lowest perceivable level, and while the lowest and highest settings of the Einstein may be exactly the same as a Dogtra, having 100 discrete settings versus 5 makes finding the right level for your dog much easier. I wanted to really put this unit through its paces before writing my review, and I was also interested in some of the cons that some users have experienced. Personally I think that this is a great device, so I want to address the cons that I read. | Collar length too long/stiff | The collar provided with the receiver is made out of biothane which means it is a nylon collar with a flexible plastic coating. I only using biothane leashes and collars, and the biothane collar is one of the main bonuses you get with the Einstein. Yes, the collar is stiff, but the pros of biothane (being waterproof, mold proof, easy to clean, and amazingly strong) far outweigh the collar being a bit stiff. This collar has all the benefits of leather without any of the drawbacks. Second is the length. Obviously Einstein provides a very long collar so it can be cut to size. With my malinois puppy I cut the collar slightly and then folded it back on itself when I put the collar on my puppy. I left a bunch of slack for his growth, but I've never had a problem with the extra length. | Battery Life | The battery life of my unit has been phenomenal. I have a working dog, and we go through 1 to 2-hour training sessions daily. When we started with the collar he was getting stimmed quite a bit, so I know I was stressing the battery. I have yet to have the collar die on me within one day, even with heavy use. Several times I've forgotten to charge the collar, and I've had it last 2-3 days without a problem. | Proper contact on the dog | Getting proper contact between the receiver and the dog can be really difficult, especially if they have a heavy double coat. The prongs with the Einstein are good enough for the majority of dogs, but some dogs may require longer prongs, but the same problem would be experienced with any other brand (the basic two-prong design is basically the same between all the manufacturers). There are some other solutions out there, including what is known as a 24-hour contact pad. However, that's more an issue of the design of e-collars overall, not the Einstein. | Lining up the dots to turn the collar on/off | This to me is a non-issue since I turn the collar on and off when I put it on and take it off my dog. Yes, trying to line up the dots when the dog is wearing the collar can be tough. Well, just take it off the dog! Overall I think the Einstein collar is the best out there. The myriad of features make it a great tool, but any potential owner should be very aware that you should work with a professional trainer if you don't have any experience with an e-collar. If you've used an e-collar before you'll love the way Einstein has approached the development of this device.

Great E Collar Set for my two dogs
I’ve been using the Educator ET-402TS 2 Dog E-Collar Remote Dog Trainer for a while now, and I couldn’t be more impressed! It’s a fantastic tool for training multiple dogs, and it works especially well for stubborn or easily distracted pups. Multiple stimulation levels mean you can tailor the training to your dog's individual temperament. It’s nice to have such flexibility! The remote is user-friendly and comfortable to hold, with a clear display that shows the settings at a glance. I love that it’s rechargeable and has a decent battery life, so I don’t have to worry about constantly replacing batteries. Plus, the e-collars themselves are durable and waterproof, so they can withstand all sorts of weather. One of the biggest selling points for me is the ability to train two dogs simultaneously, which is perfect for our multi-dog household. The remote allows you to adjust each collar individually, which is super convenient. Overall, this trainer has been a game-changer for improving my dogs’ behavior, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an effective and versatile e-collar training system.

Very impressed
Smaller receiver doesn't look like it's weighing down a smaller dogs neck. Has flashing and solid lights for running at night, one charge goes a long way. I like the fact that you can lock the level so that it can't be accidentally bumped, but it is very easy to unlock if you need to up the correction. Three types of correction are continuous, nick and pager. The only thing that I can't speak of is how long the batteries will last. It says 500 charges, which should be a few years with the number of charges I'm doing, but I can't say until I need to replace the batteries. Oh and who ever colour coded the buttons is a genius. Also I like the idea of having the two buttons for the two collars rather than having to change a switch. Makes it much less likely that you will accidentally stimulate the wrong dog.

Great for 2 Dogs
I used a ET-300 for one of my dogs that I rescued as she had a bad habit of running away at full speed whenever the leash was taken off. The ET-300 worked excellent however, when both of my dogs are off leash it would be confusing to them since my pitbull was wearing the trainer and my border collie was not. Enter in the ET-402 and life is great. This product is such a treat to use it makes spending time with my dogs outside much more enjoyable for all mammals involved. I tend to use it the most when fishing with my pups and they love the freedom to run and swim as much as they like, while I still control to get them to come back to me immediately, if needed. Once the dogs are trained on the E-Collar you will barely need to use the remote. Great product I highly recommend.

Dead after 6 months
This is our second purchase of this product, the first one worked for about 9 months and thought it was a fluke that it died. We purchased a second set, and this one died after only 6 months. The transmitter is fully charged but just turns off as soon as you click the button to send your dog a stimulation. This is a very expensive product to be so useless after a short period of time. Absolutely do not recommend.

Great product!
These are great e-collars. We have used them for six years at the cottage. They are waterproof. Great to keep our dogs away from the neighbours property, etc... We bought these to replace our old ones. They lasted 6 years but very satisfied with this product. I will gladly buy it again in 6 years if needed.
