Superior Essentials Wall Mounted Ironing Board

This is a great ironing board--well-designed & very sturdy but it's a bit of a challenge to install. It's quite heavy and must be attached to the wooden mounting board supplied. First, that MOUNTING BOARD MUST BE SECURILY SCREWED INTO THE WALL STUDS. DO NOT USE THE SHEETROCK ANCHORS FOR THIS--THEY WON'T HOLD THE WEIGHT OF THE IRONING BOARD OVER TIME. YOU CAN USE THE SCREWS PROVIDED TO ATTACH THE OAK MOUNTING BOARD TO THE WALL STUDS BUT YOU MUST DRILL HOLES SLIGHTLY SMALLER IN DIA. THAN THE SCREWS THROUGH THE OAK MOUNTING BOARD because board is made of oak & it is extremely hard wood! The screws provided are not good quality & the threads need bar soap lubrication & drilled holes to work. Otherwise it is easy to damage the screw heads, especially if you use a power drill to drive the screws. Also, if you separate the board from the metal mounting plate before you attach the plate to the wooden board it's a lot easier to line up and level the plate & attach it to the board itself. It's easy to separate the ironing board from the mounting plate by removing the two bolts which attach the board to the plate. Once the ironing board is reattached to the mounting plate the job is done & you've made a great addition to your laundry room. My wife was very happy to throw away our old, flimsy, & awkward stand-up ironing board. And, if you can make your wife happy isn't that what a marriage is supposed to be about!

It looks great and is solid. The board is sufficiently long when open. And being able to rotate it makes it even more space saving. It's always right there when I need it but completely out of the way when I don't. I mounted the wall plate and then attached the board instead of assembling it all and needing 2 people to hold it to mount it. My installation took very little time and effort. Worth the money.

You will not regret spending the money on this! The quality is unbelievable and it even swivels around and so versatile for very tight spaces! Love it!

This thing is a substantial hunk of metal, so you will definitely need to make sure the mounting is robust. It comes with drywall anchors and matching screws but I would never rely on them alone to mount this unit. There's a painted white board included for reinforcing the mounting, but for my application I had to make a bigger board so I could attach to wall studs in at least two locations. I cut out a board from 5/8" plywood, sanded and smoothed the edges, painted it, mounted it on the wall so that it covered two studs, drove 3" deck screws through the board and into the studs. Then I used the included screws (without the anchors) to mount the ironing board to the board. Because of the spacing of my wall studs, the board is large enough to also mount a heavy-duty iron holder next to the ironing board. As far as the ironing board itself, it's sturdy and easy to operate. The swivel feature is great. The cover is removable for cleaning. The one flaw I discovered was with three of the four screws which secure the cover at the hinge point: They are supposed to be backed up by nuts but three of the nuts were missing. I dug around in my hardware collection and found the correct nuts, but most people would have to make a trip to the hardware store. If the nuts aren't in place the screws are held in by friction only.
