Works very well with digital ballasts
After I purchased this I read some reviews that said they had issues using it with a digital ballast. As a result i called Sunleaves to ask them about this and they said they have never heard of such a problem. But the technician I spoke to said he would set up a test fixture to determine if it was valid. He contacted me after it had run on a Nanolux digital ballast at 50% power for several weeks to say they had not had any issues.I also ended up using it before there testing was done and had it running on 50%, then 75% power for about 5 weeks with it switching on and off each day. I have any troubles with the unit at the time of writing this review, if I do in the future, I will update this review. The customer service at Sunleaves is excellent, I never expected them to set up a test fixture and converse with me over the specifications for it, they did an excellent job.I also found the unit easy to program, and it works great.

Easy to program and works great!
I have an older model wall sleeve behemoth A/C. I have a few other units that have settings and remote sensors to allow for them only being on when necessary, a lot on the energy consumption. While my older unit works great - it was either all or nothing - constantly running the fan and wasting energy when it was not actually cooling.I had been looking for a timer that would allow me to schedule its run times to make the most of its cooling power, in the most efficient manner, with a program that fit my work and at-home schedules. Come to find out not all 220/240 v outlets are the same, and trying to find a decent timer that accommodated my older unit, and allowed for programming flexibility, was somewhat of a task. This timer is great because it accommodates two configurations of 220/240 v outlets and allows for 20 programmable On/Off cycles - more than enough to program an efficient schedule throughout the week. It also comes with a cadmium battery that 1) lets you program it right out of the box and NOT have to have it plugged in to do so, and 2) maintains your programming should you lose power. The product arrived less than 2 days after ordering. It is in a plastic clam-shell type container, but it easily snaps open without knives or scissors.Programming instructions are somewhat sparse, but it is not difficult to program at all - after a few fat-finger button pushes I was coasting through my programming for the week. (A word of advice - you have 20 programs that you can set by day of the week and Start/Stop time. Make a list of your desired schedule for the week by day and Start/Stop times and you can then sail through the programming in a few minutes and be done. It will save you a lot of frustration to do so.)The unit also allows for manual intervention, so you can run what ever you have plugged into the timer on off-scheduled times. It also allows for you to completely turn off the timer (without unplugging it or deleting your schedule) should you need, and resume your regular schedule with the push of a button. (Of course you can also just turn off the appliance that is plugged into the timer so it stays off regardless of the timer schedule.)One thing to note, and others have also noted this, is that the status of the timer (On, Off, Auto) appears at the bottom left corner of the display in very tiny text. If the outlet is low to the floor, it might make it a bit of a challenge to see the status and know if you are in AUTO or ON mode after turning the timer off etc. I have a low outlet, but have found that once you get used to the way it cycles through its mode settings, this is not really a problem, but is worth noting.I should see significant energy savings, as I have my A/C scheduled to run a third of the time I let it run in the past. Off during the day when I am at work, and at night when sleeping etc, and on at appropriate times to manage the temperature when I am home. The convenience of not having to shut the actual unit on and off (or forgetting to do so) and having it come on about a half hour before I get home makes it worth its cost - and I will not have to keep playing with the temperature settings either, making it more of a set it and forget it scenario.I have given the unit 4 stars instead of 5, even though it arrived in short order, in great condition and provides ease of use and great flexibility, only because of the status text being so small. It would have been nice if the manufacturer had made it the same size as the text when programming so it would be a bit easier to read. Otherwise it is a great 240 V timer.

Get What You Pay For
Bought 2 of them. Used with a 1000 watt Sunleaves Ballast and 1000 watt hydrofarm. Both magnetic style, not digital. One worked for about 12 months, the other about 15. They just quit switching on. Indicator lights lit up fine, it just never actually applies power to the device. I manually tried to turn it on and they still dont apply power. Screen works and theres no fault indicators, so i dunno. Maybe i lost power and when it restarted it fried them. I dont see any replaceable fuses. For the price, i guess i got my $$$ worth. Would i buy again. No. Maybe in a few years when a new design hits the market. Until then i will stick to my trusty analog trip timmers.

AWFUL AWFUL (wrong) Directions!
My timer came with a instruction sheet dated "revised July 2017". Current time/date programming went well but I was unable to program timer setpoints. Drove me nuts for 30 minutes so I went to their website and found an instruction sheet dated Sept 2016 (1 yr OLDER than what came with it) and it was clear and easy. If it drives you nuts go to the website listed on the bottom of their instruction sheet and search for model BDT-1C in their website search box (it's not listed). With that sheet I programmed it in 2 minutes.

It worked fine for 8 months and then uneventfully the off cycle ...
It as a little complicated to set it up and it didn't come with directions. I had to print them off of Manualslib.com.It worked fine for 8 months and then uneventfully the off cycle broke. The display says it should be off but the lights stayed on past there shut off time. I unplugged it and reset it and it came back on when it was supposed to but then failed to shut off again at the programmed time. Again the display says auto off, yet the light stays on.

Works in my pool pump house
I use this on my pool for my ozinator which pulls less than 15 amps and is 220v. The ozinator was not turned off along with the pump so to save electricity and to extend the use of the electrodes, I decided to put it on a timer. It was directly wired so I just cut the wire, made an outlet from the source side and attached a plug to ozinator side and plugged it in. It's been working flawlessly for about a month now. If I could find one with a higher amp rating, I would replace the old mechanical timer for the pump. Luckily, I have a pump house so it's not outside and so no need of a weather proof version.

Good as appliance timer
I bought this timer for an older 220v air conditioner. It works well, but could have more options for programming (ie copying days) The method to put the timer in manual mode or move to override the programing is through one button, and tiny words appear in the display- so tiny that I have to pull the timer out of the plug to be able to read it.Update- I had this timer for 3 years , using it on an old behemoth AC. The timer just stopped working (though the old behemoth still works fine!)- no power to AC on any setting, though the battery seems fine. For this price, and the programming flexibility, I'm ordering another.
