Season before use! Cook low and slow. Not ready to cook "out of the box"
So, I bought this waffle iron used, figured I'd save a few bucks...I should have bought it new! Buyer beware, when I recieved mine today it had burnt batter in it, the person who returned it didn't bother to clean it.Also, it does NOT come preseasoned! If you don't know how to season cast iron look up a tutorial on YouTube.I seasoned this iron with about 3 layers after cleaning it out. There is a learning curve but just keep the heat as low as possible, preheat both sides on separate burners lightly oil and fill about 3/4 of the diameter of one side of the iron with batter, let it cook and when it starts to bubble up, like pancakes do, attach the second side of the iron, flip and cook for about another 2-3 minutes or so.It will take a few tries to get the hang of it but I was eventually able to get pretty great waffles with minimal sticking!FYI if you don't mind waiting a few weeks for shipping, Ali express has the exact same iron for $11. Do with that information what you will.

If you like samples
A cast iron waffle maker. Quite small and thin. I spend most of my life in the wilderness, and I want to take waffles with me! Not sure this is going to last long, sort of flimsy. bought "used", but in good shape.

Do not buy, waste of money.
Quite a terrible product. I’ve used 3 different types of waffle makers bfore and made plenty of different types of waffles, by far this one is the worst. Cheaply made, heat is not evenly distributed, easily rusted, and worst off the 2 sides of waffle fall apart, despite much of butter or oil coated on both sides.Waste of money, do not buy. Have to throw it out after the first use.

AMAZING
I opened it a little too soon while cooking my 1st waffle but still came out Very Well and crispy 😋 great non stick surface only a small piece left behind and I think it was from lifting the lid before it was all the way done other than that it came out clean. Only down side was waiting 90 minutes before using it to complete the seasoning process. Worth the wait and won't take up a lot space to store it

Makes Great Waffles
Best way to make waffles crunchy on the outside and so yummy. Medium heat on my gas stove.

Broke first use
Opted for a refund, I’ll go with a better brand. The pin on it broke the first time I used it. I give it two stars because it did work, I used lard and had no sticking issues. I consider the quality to be very poor and a complete gamble. I was lucky it broke within the return window. Had it broke a month or two down the road I would be SOL. Skip this and look for a better brand.

So so.
First, I wasn’t too thrilled that it was rusty when opening the package. Clearly, it was exposed to too much moisture.Second, far too many sections to the cooking surface. I can tell already that it will likely be a bear to clean. It will probably take a good amount oftime to get it seasoned enough to keep it from sticking & keep me from spending an hour cleaning after using. Pretty expensive for size & quality.

Takes some practice
This takes a little practice in getting the waffles right. But after a few fails you learn how to use it and the waffles are great! It’s pretty heavy though but cleans easily
