Nutcracker Ballet Coloring Book (Dover Christmas Coloring Books)

I looked for Nutcracker Ballet coloring books, far and wide, and it was almost impossible to find any that had actual ballerina poses from Tchaikovsky‘s Nutcracker.This book hit the mark even though some of the pictures are a bit boring and the lines are not clean or finished of the drawings. But it is still pretty decent and is accurately portrayed from the different movements of the Nutcracker.Honestly, my only qualm is the paper quality. Judging from how little you pay for the book, you couldn’t have expected much… But it is still disappointing. It’s even difficult to get pencil to blend on it, which is usually the easiest medium. Marker is out of the question as it seeps through immediately to the other side (drawings are double sided).I colored the Arabian coffee dance and decided to paint the background black with acrylic paint. That actually didn’t show from the other side, so I was at least pleased with that. I’m going to color other pieces from the book but again I can’t hold out high hopes as the paper has very little tooth. Still, it is a great book for may be children who enjoy and want to learn about the Nutcracker ballet.

Good for any young fan of The Nutcracker Ballet.

Beautiful little book which exceeds my expectations. Not your ordinary coloring book. The 8" x 11" paper is heavy with glossy covers; the inside covers are beautifully painted in color. The illustrations are lovely, realistic, and artistically detailed, perfect for my 6 year old granddaughter. However, I'd say that any child age 4 and up would enjoy it if they are going to see the ballet. Each illustrated page has the accompanying story line from the ballet and is presented as a description of the events and dancing. For example, "The next scene of the ballet takes place in the Kingdom of Snow. Lovely Snowflakes take the stage and perform an elegant dance." Perfect for children to understand the story when they see the magical show. I'm happy that I didn't buy the nice hardcover Nutcracker storybooks for sale here. I got the same hardcover books from the library, and combined with this, will do the trick. Amazon also has lovely Nutcracker tree ornaments that I bought as a holiday gift for after the show.

Got this for myself, I love the nutcracker.This coloring book is based off of the Balanchine ballet, it is beautifully illustrated I almost didn’t want to color it! But I have enjoyed it. Great quality, nothing wrong with it, no upside down pages. Just excellent.

Such beautiful drawings and the costumes were all so accurate to the ballet. We love this coloring book. It has nearly all the characters and it is great quality

A wonderful array of scenes from the classical version of the Nutcracker. Fun for balletomanes from about 7 years old up to color and each page opens a new doorway to telling the story!Coloring this helped introduce my granddaughter to The Nutcracker, and was an affordable & delightful prelude to a special afternoonNo buyer alerts! Perhaps best accompanied by fine-tipped markers, however, rather than the blunter crayons?

We bought these coloring books nearly a year ago (well, Santa put them in the stockings after a Christmas Eve Nutcracker performance), and there they sat in our art cabinet. Suddenly, a month ago, my 4 and 5 year olds decided they are the best thing in the world. They spend nice long stretches every day coloring in the little sections. Who knew?!?! Great book for those who are going to see the Nutcracker, or are familiar with the story. Great coloring pages for kids who have mastered coloring in the lines and are ready for a bit of a challenge.

So cute! It’s very fun to look up what different ballet companies have done for each costume and then make your own color choices. This artist draws some awkward faces sometimes but bodies are beautiful. Wish it wasn’t double sided like most Dover books but I have enjoyed it.

I enjoy the illustrations in this colouring book. It is interesting to see different interpretations of The Nutcracker.
