Tried buying it for the cat... Yeah, that's it...
Bought this to give the cat something to chase. But it's fun just to run them.Got this on sale for a good price, thinking I can make something attachable to the car, for my cat. It worked/works, but the cat will need to get used to the car noise. Cat seems to like two cars moving better than just one. He currently just watches. But when I left the room, he picked up/dragged the squirrel car (see pic) toward the room I was now in, dropped it in the doorway like a proud and mighty hunter showing off his kill. Has done this more than once. And it's only 2 days old.Got blocks? What can YOU make with it, using YOUR imagination?Meanwhile, it's just fun to run anyway, if you are a train or car guy. Or perhaps a Lego guy. I myself own a good bit of old Aurora Model Motoring, mostly in the attic, and I've built a small HO DCC train set-up. I even have some Lego. There's probably no "too old" for this, if you like this kind of stuff. (Wish I had kids.) Viva Gomez Adams!AAA Battery box is for size comparison only. It does not use them.Cars are sturdy enough. Lego car is a rolling black brick, 4x10, with car and truck ends to pop on. Seems to have a little magnetic traction. Track seems sturdy enough. First assembly/disassembly, the tracks may be a little tight. I built a flat track so the cat didn't Godzilla it. (No over/under.) A throttle-ring prevents full throttle for inexperienced drivers, which works. I can just squeeze and let the other car run, while I drive the squirrel. The turbo button simply launches the cars. Plan on sitting close enough to re-slot them unless/until you learn how to drive, and probably after. The jump takes a little skill and good placement.I would say this was a good value. If I had kids, I'd get more.

Slot cars meet legos.
I set the track up and had fun with the kids which is what it's all about. We put little lego people in the cars and made custom vehicles which is really fun. The truck was more top heavy than the car which made it a little more difficult to control, but you can pull that piece off and go custom. The track is not long enough to really need full speed or turbo for the most part. Expect to be returning cars to the track, a lot. Might want to get some extra track, bigger is better, provided you have the room. Mastering the jump is tricky. I like that it has a few different pices to add legos onto. These worked well for bridge building. I have since bought another set, a Go plus, and joined them and I needed a second bridge for my layout. The lego pieces made it possible. They could have done a little better with the bridge supports they do give you, as in more of them. The go and go plus series is geared toward children with legos, and nintendo and disney characters, but I may be just a big kid anyway.

Great race care set
My 3 and 5 year old grandkids loved this set. It took a few minutes to set up but then was easy to use and stayed together well. Great set for the price.
