Proxxon 38544 Longneck Mini Angle Grinder LW/E

I think it's a great little tool. These reviews I'm seeing about how it doesn't have enough torque are baffling to me. This little guy isn't made to cut 1/2" bar with a cutoff wheel. It's made to deburr edges or sand a rounded surface or a million other very light duty jobs. You should have an angle grinder to do heavy duty work. I really don't get it because it seems to me if you're buying this tool, you probably have several corded angle grinders, and at least one cordless, if not more. So why you would be trying to do anything but finishing work with this is beyond me. My one complaint is how crunchy it sounds in the neck. I'm sure there is a pretty sophisticated gear train in there, but it does sound like it's gonna tear itself apart any second the whole time it's being used. I hope it only sounds like that and it continues to work, because I really like the little guy. I don't use it much, but when I do need it, I get so happy because I love using it.

I used the device only a few times over the course of a month, and on the third time it started smoking and completely stopped working. The quality is awful. I absolutely do not recommend it.

This is a neat little tool and has worked quite well for me. I'm in the middle of building a steel fence and I use it to shave down welds that I can't fit with my regular angle grinder. I wasn't expecting it to have the power that my Dewalt 4.5" angle grinder has but what it does have I'm quite happy with. It does what I expect it to do and that's good enough for me.

Esta Amoladora no es para cortes largos es mas bien para cortes precisos pero cortos, no esperes cortes continuos como una amoladora tradicional. Si lo usas para detalles pequeños es una maravilla, pero es precio de sus discos es un poco alto tendras que compran solo de su propia marca ya que otros podrian no se el tamaño adecuado para su eje.

This tool is hot trash. There's no power. If you put any sort of pressure on the wheel. It overheats extremely bad. I've been through two of these. Neither one of them lasted more than 10 minutes at a time before it blew up. Started smoking and burnt my hand

I was trying to find a tool primarily for cutting small radii in thin mild steel sheet, and for finishing the edges. Pros: 1) variable speed, so this tool could be used for wood finishing in small spaces, 2) wheel is at a right angle to the handle, so it's very easy on the wrist, 3) it has a 2" wheel size which allow for tight work. Cons: 1) the 2" wheel size should cut small circles, but it really struggles, 2) when running at highest rpm, the housing gets VERY hot and is difficult to hold, 3) the 2" wheels quickly wear down, requiring changes, 4) the hex screw attachment makes the wheel changes a bit difficult, and the little screw/plate doesn't secure the wheel terribly well when cutting steel. So...this guy falls short of what I needed it to do, so I didn't find that it has much value purpose.

The gears sound horrible with first use. I hope it last. My buddy also has one that sounds horrible. the head was modified to take easier to source disc's. So far so good but I feel anyway it'll throw bearing or what ever is grinding in there.

Quiet, powerful, light and easy to handle. This is an amazing tool!

Lasted less than an hour of total use. I used it three times and the there was a flash, puff of smoke and it's now a nice green paper weight. Low power, sounds like it's got a loose bearing and overheats with little use.
