Headlong Flight: Star Trek: The Next Generation

A Difference that Makes an Incredible Difference!
Dayton Ward's "Headlong Flight," is an adrenaline rush! Ward has mastered the "hairpin turn" of storytelling to such a degree that even those who have experienced all the Trek universe has offered will be pleasantly surprised.By providing the reader with a superbly complex plot, Ward strategically keeps the reader's eyes on the page at all times. The story's almost staccato rhythm forces the reader to continuously keep checking their proverbial "rear view mirror " in order to keep their bearings in this tale. The blending of three ships--two Enterprises with a Romulan Warbird doing a part-time protagonist gig--is extremely well-balanced and demonstrates Ward's skill and his deftness as a story teller.I have been reading his stories for many years now. I have never been disappointed--ever!And neither will you!The differences in this story demonstrate beyond a doubt this unique differences this story brings to the Star Trek franchise! Bravo Dayton!

And it turns out the author does a pretty good job of filling in the backstories of what's ...
I've stayed away from Star Trek books for a few years, only picking up those I'm fairly sure I don't have to read a dozen other books to be caught up on the literary continuity in order to understand the plot. This book dances on the border of that concern, but the overall premise was too enticing to me to pass up. And it turns out the author does a pretty good job of filling in the backstories of what's been happening in the Star Trek book universe where needed.Bottom line is this is a fun read and I recommend it to any fan.

Amazing story.
Some of the best star trek writing of the last 15 years. Excellent story. Grabbed my attention and kept it the whole time. Couldn't put it down. Great book. Don't believe anyone who will tell you otherwise

What a great story with a bit of what might have been thrown in.
Dayton Ward is a great story teller and he has done it once again with this entry. Not only does he weave a tale about the crew of the enterprise e but jumps through multiple parallel universes to reveal a version of the 3nterprise d that we never got to see. One captained by a young will riker. If you haven't read it yet, what are you waiting for? Get this book now!

Outstanding! Satisfying in every way!
Captivating story line and the use of different dimensions was stimulating . There was never a dull moment. Bravo! I will continue to follow this author as well as all Star Trek:The Next Generation ,Voyager and DS9. Thanks for a great read.

Interesting inter-dimensional interactions
I like the way four different dimensions were brought together in this story. To show the differences between the dimensions was interesting, especially when interacting with those one knows so well, only to see some differences. Very well worth reading.

Good story, if a little confusing at first
This story is a bit confusing in the beginning because it hops around in multiple dimensions with different realities. It is cleared up and wrapped up by the end.

Headlong Flight My Review of this book
It is a little confusing at times, what with the 3 dimensions but still it's a good book.I feel that it is a bit of a let down as the final fate of the Romulan ship is not mentioned.

Interesting yet Complex storyline
I found this novel was slightly more complex than expected. It's scientific explanations were a bit tough for me to follow with. However, the story proceeded quite well with the necessary drama and action. The book was written well .There should have been a careful balance of not too much scientific information that I felt, interferes with the narrative. All in all, I gave this book 4 stars for its overall impact.

Unreadable
I found this book to be unreadable. There are far too many sections of exposition- tedious descriptions of character histories and relationships. There were only so many of these sections I could read while .waiting for something to actually happen.

Nice short story to get lost in
A good one-off story to get stuck into. Lovely to see so many old characters back as well! Well written and very addictive once you get started.

Great
Another great work from Dayton Ward. The crew was alive in both ships. Not just for show. Both captains, both leaders.

Sehr theoretisches Problem - mit eher zurückgesetztem Unterhaltungswert
Cpt.

An enjoyable read.
I enjoyed this novel a great deal. It had the feel of the original Next Generation TV series and I really enjoyed that the Enterprise D was featured.
