Will the fit in Carhart work pants?

Yes, that’s what I’m using them in currently. You have to roll them up pretty tight to get them into the slot at the bottom of the double-knee, and then unroll them once installed. You can leave them in while washing the pants as well, which is good because once they’re in the pants... they’re very difficult/near impossible to remove. You can try Duluth “Fire Hose” work pants as well, softer/stronger than Carhart, and they have Velcro at the bottom of the double-knee which makes it much, much easier to install knee saver inserts.

Why do these need to be Hi-vis if they are inserted into the pants?

Probably so you can find it when you want to remove it from the little slot that it slides into. I have removed mine to wash and dry the pants, and the high viz. was welcome to see when I was reaching into that dark slot to get a hold of it.

Will these work in Walls work pants?

I found that turning the new pad completely inside out that is rolling it so the textured part is not touching the fabric of the pant as you stuff it in makes it work then re-inversion so that it is right side out isn’t very tricky but it’s almost impossible to put it in carhartt work pants unless it’s turned inside out are you cut the pants to make that insertion orifice larger that will weaken the stitching. The time that I did that, I ended up using some leather rivets and riveting the sides of the hole that I had made to prevent the unraveling of the stitching. It’s not easy but it’s so helpful if you’re on your knees much.
