As posted by a seller under a different listing for the same product, there's a production date code on the packages: "here is a production code on the bottom after the P 1st letter is month 2-3 are day and the last letter is the year They have a shelf life 24 months . Just to give an example, If the code says PF22O that would translate to June 22 2015 F=6=June 22 is 22 and 0=15=2015" That answer isn't entirely clear that the letters aren't abbreviations for the month and year, they're shorthand for their numerical place in the English alphabet. E.g., A=1 (January), B=2 (February), etc. And the years start as of 2000, so A=2001...Q=2016, R=2017, etc.

Yes they are from China. They’re labeled for the US market, and imported through England.

They have weird smell. Is that normal?

If you know what roasted chestnuts should smell like and the smell is "weird" compared to that then, no, you got a bad batch. Otherwise, who knows? For various reasons, people think a lot of perfectly normal things smell ""weird"...

From China import by way of United Kingdom. Chestnuts are 90 percent from China and majority of them are organically grown
