First impression? Outstanding!
I’m an85 year old veteran. For the past 3 yrs. I’ve been in the VA hearing aid program. While I’m an advocate of VA health benefits in general, I feel the hearing program is lacking. It is difficult to get an appointment in a reasonable time frame and in most cases the device must be sent to the company for service which takes weeks to have it returned. The VA uses the Phonak brand. My VA contact claims the Phonak brand retails for $4,000.00During this time I have lost 2 devices, 1 of which was replaced. After just losing the 2’nd I was not eligible for another. I decided to look for an alternative. I choose EarCentric from a number of offers on Amazon. The package was delivered to my door in 2 days. With EarCentric you get a complete package with a very comprehensive user manual which in itself, gave me a better understanding of hearing aids. After reading the manual, installing and adjusting the devices, I was able to hear substantially better than with my Phonak device. There was no learning curve for me. I began using them comfortably and full time immediately. They even seemed to fit better with less chance of losing one.EarCentric also has online messaging and a phone number for help. I didn’t use it. I didn’t need it.Of course at this stage, I cannot comment on the durability of the devices but I can say I’m now quite happy with EarCentric and think it’s a good choice.Update, After 3-4 weeks of usage, I'm now more qualified to review. I am having some difficulty with understanding female voices in the higher range.EarCentric has now contacted me twice thru email about the necessity for frequent cleaning. The manual stated cleaning two swipes every 2-3 days while latest email states 5 swipes every day. I am cooperating. But it sounds like they are in sort of a learning curve themselves. They encourage Amazon customers to contact them before sending them back. I hope the good service is still there after my 30 days are up. I might mention that I never received the FREE years supply of ear buds and tube for registering.I'm not giving up hope. 'Still trying to make them work to my satisfaction.Stay tuned.

Pretty Good Hearing Device For The Cost - But Be Careful
These are obviously much less expensive than many such devices and around 1/10 of the cost from an audiologist (including their fees). I have some significant loss in the upper frequency’s of my hearing. I am male, age 72 - It’s about typical. It means that high voiced, soft spoken female speakers are hard to understand, especially if there is a noise like the TV on.The Good:The sound quality is pretty good and the noise level isn’t objectionable.I can better understand people’s voices with these. They are relatively easy to set up and control - There are few settings.Although, as you would expect the high (treble) notes are accentuated, music is still enjoyable - the bass notes still come through.I still have decent directionality of my hearing - I can tell what direction the sounds I hear are coming from. The Bad:The default earpieces (red card photo) are small and the tube it attaches to is very small. I had used these a few weeks and one night on taking off my hearing devices, one of the little silicone ear buds that goes into the ear canal came off and stayed in the ear canal. Perhaps I pushed it in too far. In any case I couldn’t get it out, nor could my wife see it. I had to go to an urgent care facility the next morning to have it removed from my ear. While I admit I may have inserted the bud too far into my ear canal, this was kind of scary until it was removed. The root problem seems to me that the default earbud needs to be in fairly deeply to work well, but it can go in easier that it comes out if you go in too far. After I had the ear bud removed, I waited a day and then used the larger tubes and earpieces (yellow background photo) that also come with the device (aparantly for those with more serious hearing loss). These have the advantages of an ear bud that doesn’t have to go all the way into the ear canal to get decent results and the tubes are bigger and easier to work with. (By the way a common pipe cleaner does a good job of cleaning out these tubes). After changing over to the larger earpiece tubes and buds, the devices are a bit more visible than with the default tiny tubes, but it looks to me like hopefully I won’t have to take another trip to the urgent care facility again to get the bud removed from my ear canal.By the way - earwax can be a problem with any hearing device. I carefully clean my ears every night with a Q-Tip (be very cautious) and even so, a little earwax can get into the earbud and tubes and if it does, it will block the sound - especially with the default tiny tubes unless you clean them daily.Update ~ 1 1/2 years Later:I have had no real problems with these since I switched over to the larger hearing tubes and earbuds. They work and are simple to use. I have wanted a Bluetooth version like this and have tried a couple of competing products with Bluetooth. I wanted that to be able to listen directly to my phone for calls or music and to be able to set up the hearing aid response via Bluetooth. One worked pretty well aside from sounding bad on music from my phone (no bass at all) and physically hurt my ear at the end of the day because the shape was not adjustable. The other one didn't work at all to receive Bluetooth audio from my phone and was comfortable enough but because it didn't really fit properly it was prone to squeals (feedback). Compared to those, these hearing aids are great - No Bluetooth but they just work. This has caused me to raise my review by 1 star. Having 3 buttons instead a miserable single button makes them much easier to adjust (On/OFF and Up/Down Volume)The battery life continues to be good. It recharges in an hour or two and I I use it all day and into the evening with no issues.By the way, the larger tubes are 2mm ID X 3mm OD and Amazon sells those cheaply in both silicone and PVC tubing. The earbuds are pretty much standard and Amazon sells those too. Those simple little tubes that go to your earbud allow you to adjust the spacing to your ear canal from your outer ear for your particulars ears. Being able to use a variety of earbuds lets you find a size and style that works best for you. If this manufacturer made a version like this with Bluetooth I would buy them in a heartbeat. And, BTW - When I want to read I just turn off the hearing aids. I think my grandad did that when he was tired of hearing grandma. It is not complete silence but it's a feature.

These hearing aids worth every penny
You have heard it before, I never believed most of them. The people saying cheap hearing aids working as good as the expensive hearing aids. I don't know how Earcentric did it, I have had the 4000.00 dollar units on, Earcentric really does work as good if not better than the others. I was so impressed I bought a extra set, as soon as I put them I know how much clearer sounds are. Clarity is exceptional, I would not hesitate one second to whole heartily recommend these to somebody else. Very good customer service and fast. The price speaks for itself!

Good aids for the money
These aids work quite well for my wife, even with pretty severe hearing loss. They are comfortable and the buttons on the aids are easy to operate. The only issue we've found so far is that they don't seem to work well in noisy environments.

So far, so good……more to follow.
TOO NEW FOR NOW TO RATE HIGHER. I PLAN TO FINALIZE MY RATING AFTER 1-2 MORE WEEKS OF USE.I just bought these for my elderly mother. She was quick to pick up the easy set up instructions. It took a bit to size and fine tune each hearing aid to her desired settings. She’s been wearing them all afternoon and can barely feel them in her ears. They are that comfortable. Most importantly, she’s noticed a significant hearing improvement. She can now hear conversations more clearly and does not have to raise the volume in order to watch TV.
