Holds charge well
Does hold the charge well, but has felt warm here and there. Don't know if that is when it is charging or not, but probably. No power outage yet to know if it is a good backup.

These batteries should come with the modem
The only problem with these Arris and Motorola back up batteries is:- They should include one with the modem.- The way it plugs in or more so, comes out, is not intuitive. That needs rethinking.- It is clearer now that lithium ion batteries are a fire safety concern. I'd like to see more engineering to ensure one of these does not flame out in the middle of the night. Put that improvement on the box and in the promotional materials. These modems tend to be in un-monitored basements, on closet shelves, and under desks.- Why green?- Offer the longest lasting modem for a lower price. This 8 hour is probably fine but, if the 12 hour was say, $10, I would have bought that. As it is now, it is VERY hard to figure out if you are getting the right battery for your particular modem. I rolled the dice and it worked. As it is now, for the 12 hour battery, the price range is $7-$70! Very confusing. So, I went with the 8 hour as it was ever so slightly more clear whilst still totally confusing if I was getting the right one or not!

Maybe not holding the charge??
This is an update to my previously made review listed below. Apparently, and I accidentally learned about this after returning the battery as defective, according to someone, there is a 5-6 day testing period, performed automatically by the ARRS TM 822G modem, of charging and discharging a newly inserted battery, that makes the battery appear defective and unable to hold a charge. However, I contacted ARRS technical support on May 20th, and they were clueless about the testing. According to them, after 24 hours of charging, or usually less, the battery light on the modem should stop flashing. Otherwise something is not working properly. This is my initial review: Although the battery seems to work for many people, I read about this problem before my purchase. But then this happened to me. I'm experiencing the exact same problem as reported by someone else with a brand new modem. Either the battery is not good or the modem is the problem. Since the modem is a brand new TM822G from the cable company, and works for everything else, my best guess is that it's the battery. Bought this battery for an Arris TM822G and it arrived pretty quickly and it looked perfectly in good new condition. Installed it into the modem, the battery light came on solid about 12 hours later, and everything looked OK. But one day later, the modem's battery light starts to flash and according to the modem owner's manual, that means the battery is bad. I also thought maybe the modem accidentally lost power with a loose connection, causing the battery to discharge, so I checked that was OK, modem power light was on, and let the battery charge for another 12 hours or so. Battery light stopped flashing, but then on the next day, the flashing started again. Someone else with the same problem wrote this: "I've read up on a few other sites and there's others complaining about the same thing. The battery doesn't hold after a few days."

A glitch to begin with, but then good success since
I had little trouble getting this battery into my new Arris TM822G Touchstone modem. It was a little tough getting the battery to line up just right before installing it, but only took a minute of trial and error before it slid in easily. Don't force the battery into the modem, as this will break either the contacts or the fins on the battery! For some reason, the shipping time was delayed, longer than any product I've ever ordered from Amazon. But it got to me after about two weeks after I ordered. I had a minor glitch where the modem power light was blinking green (which would mean the battery was low). However, after I reported the problem to the Confluent Technology Group, the modem went back to normal operating mode during the time Confluent was responding to my email complaint ( a couple of hours time). Confluent is very responsive to feedback. I haven't had any problems other than the one during that first week, and the battery and the modem seem to be very compatible. I'll have to hold off final judgement until a power outage occurs, though, and see if everything still works then.

A must have when you get that 3 second power outage - Didn't know they had these!!!
I hate when the power goes out for 5 seconds. You wait 5 minutes for everything to come back online. Modem reboots, then router. Of course the cable line is fine, as well as my laptop. But with this, you simply slide in the modem, and boom no problem. Two things to watch out for:Ensure you follow instruction ON THE MODEM (Battery is fine). If you are troubleshooting with your internet provider, remove the battery. They will often try to reboot the router and ask you to turn the modem off, but the battery keep power going, so your not actually turning it off. So it's doing it's job and the internet provider can't figure out why.And lastly, ensure you get a small backup for your router if you have it hardwired in somewhere else in your house. Just a simple one. That keep the juice going for the router, so you have internet going when those power goes down for a few seconds or even a few minutes.Wish I knew about these years ago!
