It's a nice knife that can be used to practice with.

This isn't a bad little knife, other people have explained what the nightshade series is about and my advice it to look at the whole line before you buy this knife. These are knives and not toys, they have a point but no edge to speak of. This one is small enough for carry and all the cold steel plastics are strong but def not indestructible. just keep in mind when you buy this that the Boot Blade I is bigger and only a few dollars more. I like to collect these because the cost is lower then steel, of course they are worlds apart in performance as well. Lets call these what they are, factory made shivs. They are a set it and forget it knife that won't rust and the point will degrade upon use but not really over time. either get it to fool around with and collect or get it for a number of last resort defense placement in home, vehicle, a friends house, or on your person. just don't expect too much out of them.

This is a great "Last Line" defense weapon that is made of top quality materials. Though it can be slightly sharpened, I wouldn't expect this to ever be razor sharp. It is however a great stab/slash defense weapon that is light weight and small profile that allows for easy storage. The materials also allow this knife to be exposed to the elements and even buried in dirt without degrading it's structural integrity. The rubberized handle allows a good solid grip on an otherwise small profile knife. This does not come with a sheath so be prepared to find a safe place to store it.

The title says cold steel. There is nothing cold steel about this.Seller should be ashamed for the deceitful name.

Its actually really good was underwhelmed when I first got it but I tested it on 2 inches of cardboard with some rags on top and some leather. First I did my real knife I carry everyday had no problems going threw. Then tested this plastic boot knife went all the way threw just as easy and to my surprise wasn't damaged and it actually cut the leather and cloth and went all the way threw the cardboard and the tip was perfect and undamaged I now trust it and keep it in the bathroom

Probably adequate as a stabbing weapon but don't count on the edge to cut hot butter. I took at 'stab' at trying to put a finer edge on and the material shaves off in little bundles of fine hair-like material and never will work down to any kind of usable edge. So it is a dagger only. It also is flawed in the same way so many combat knives are in that the hand guard is sloped (or gussetted) the wrong way. I can see the need to slope (gussett) one side of the handguard to add strength to it, but who in the world decided to angle it so that it forms a sloped ramp for the user's hand to contact it and then ride up over it and get in the way of the blade? Cold Steel knows better than this. They produce some great fighters - in particular the OSS. But whoever designed it recognized that the object of a hand guard is to keep the user's hand from being injured and they included what they call a subhilt so that you actually have three fingers bearing against a sturdy flat-faced stop to keep the hand from slipping over the blade. Watch the forensics shows in TV and keep track of all the self-inflicted injuries that knife wielders receive from using such as kitchen knives that have no hand guard. Their hands slide easily over the handle and contact the blade when stabbing - especially when the hands are already bloody, dirty, wet, or otherwise lubricated by some substance. Cold Steel needs to rework the design and reverse the gussetted area of the hand guard so it actually protects the user. Their other little knife called the Skean Dhu actually has a usable serrated edge on it and this should be included on the boot blade as well so that it isn't just a single purpose knife. People drive me crazy with their reviews. The sellers description says plastic. The reviews say its plastic. All you have to do is read before you buy. Did you really think you were going to get a METAL dagger for $7.00 ? The item is as described and worth the money.
