Other hoses collapsed under vacume
Other hoses that I purchased that don't have the wire reinforcement would collapsed under suction. When those hoses are connected to the input side of the water pump the hose would collapse and water would not flow when the water temperature was 90F or higher. These wire reinforced hoses do not collapse under pressure. They have the same funky smell as other tubing. I soaked the hose in vinegar water and then left it in the sun for a couple of days. That reduced the smell and after a couple of months the odor is gone. These are a bit harder to attach to fittings but twisting the fitting while inserting or removing it from the hose made that easier,

Quality hoses
Used 3/4" spiral wound hose to replace old seawater hoses below waterline on a boat. The hoses supply water to a marine generator and air conditioner on a Crownline 270 boat. Hose is easy to work with, flexible, and clamps well. Good hose for the money.

Works great.
I used this on my gas water pump and it really holds up. It seals well and does not suck in air and it does not collapse at all. Very sturdy.

Not what I was expecting
I had ordered this after asking a question if it had any odour or was off gassing. I was told no. So I ordered a 10ft roll. When I received the package it reeked just as bad as the hose that came with m new de-gassing chamber. It smells so bad I have to leave it outside and can't use it in my small studio. Just saying, if someone asks you if it smells, just say yes instead of wasting their time and money. Now I have to figure out how to dispose of it since I forgot to send it back. Going local on this one for sure. Vacuum tube is not easy to find these days
