As always, Ann Rule tells stories like no other. I had recently tried a few true crime books by other authors and struggled to get through them even though the stories were interesting. With Ann, I can read her books in a few days because the story flows so well and keeps you glued to the book.

Ann Rule is the reigning Ruler of True Crime - her forte being in-depth looks at a crime, victims, perps, cops, and prosecutors. Along the way to writing and releasing her Big Books, she gathers chaff which never quite made it into a book of its own - hence these "Ann Rule Crime Files" paperbacks of which this is the 10th. There is one bigger/small novella length crime coverage and then the "stocking stuffers." So, about once a year, Rule's readers get appetizers - not the "Full Meal Deals" that are Ann's forte. Ann Rule can't fail mystery readers. The book arrived in good condition. and in a timely manner.

In the case of Marine Staff Sergeant Roland Pitre, I was a Personnel Manager at Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps in 1980 when I was notified by Naval Message that he had been arrested and was being held by the King County Sheriff's Department for 1st degree murder. What is astounding to me is that he was later paroled and then committed murder a second time! He should never see the light of day again.

I usually like Ann Rules books. She leans more heavily about the lives of the characters, which I like. I do not like to read the courtroom trials, as they tend too run on and are boring. I usually skip over those parts.

A human touch to the characters of the stories. Hard to put the book down

As always, Ann always delivers! This book, though disturbing is another Rule, must read! The bonus stories are also good. One always feels like they get their money's worth when reading Ann Rule books due to the bonus stories. All the stories are well written. I highly recommend!

Readable, but not satisfying. Some cases were still pending, no person has been charged ... which left the story very much up in the air. I find Ann's short stories ok, but no-where near as good as her beautifully researched earlier books.
