I bought this in the Kindle version and it is just what I needed
I bought PSCS-6 and found that it has many features I was not familiar with so I thought I would try this "For Dummies" book. I am so tired of having so many books taking up so much space in my home office so I bought the Kindle Fire version of this book. Photoshop is a very powerful and complex application that the average person can get lost and frustrated with very quickly. This book does not offer a really deep drill down of all the features of the application but it does do exactly what I needed and what was promised by the author. It gives enough of an explanation about the features that I was able to get to the feature and use it, test it, and work with it enough that I now feel comfortable using it. If you are a CS-5 user this is the ideal book for you and if you are new Photoshop user this is a good book for you. If you are someone that wants all the nitty gritty details of how to use all the features of the application then this book is not for you. I learned a lot of things I was unaware of while looking for the things I was really interested in knowing, which was really a plus. I recommend this book for he reasons stated above. Incidentally, Photoshop CS6 is very expensive and in my estimation well worth it. If you are a student, teacher or a person upgrading from CS5 then look for the discounted price. Also I use Adobe Light Room far more than I use Photoshop so if you are on a budget consider Light Room as a fist choice. I would buy a book to learn about those features as well. Light Room is a very powerful application that you will love whether you are a professional or a point and shooter.

Not for dummies
The book is excellent in content, but requires quite a bit of understanding of Photoshop before you begin. This is not a primer, and it is definitely not for dummies.

Good Coverage of PhotoShop Text, Vector Graphics and Artwork
Peter Bauer has done good job covering the sections of text and vector graphics in Photoshop. Since I'm not currently interested in Photography, I didn't read the first part of the book. The following chapters were excellent: Chapter 11 "Precision Edges with Vector Paths." Chapter 12 "Dressing Up Layer Styles." Chapter 13 "Giving Your Images a Text Message." Chapter 14 "Painting in PhotoShop." I also bought a new book but not straight from Amazon to get a better price. I have been impressed with how well the Dummie's books cover the topics and are slightly less costly to the consumer.

Ok
It is a good reference book. Most of the normal problems can be found in it. I have tried to just read it several times, but I am never successful in that. It is worth the cost, but don't expect it to be the only book you will need. CS6 is a huge complex program. You just learn the portions of it that are necessary to do the job at hand. Then as the job changes, keep adding information.

Excellent book for the price
This book is perfect for anyone wanting to learn how to use photoshop. It's great for beginners just starting out and pros wanting to learn more. It's also easy to understand. I would definitely recommend this book!

Great for beginners.
I purchased this book on amazon after finding it for 30$ at Barnes and Noble. As of right now Photoshop CS6 is the newest model of Photoshop. What is Photoshop? Photoshop is a computer software that lets you edit photos that you have taken. You can also create new things like logos etc.. This book by the way does not contain the software.... It is just a guide. This book shows you how to start to use Photoshop. It also explains to you what you are actually doing to a photo when for instance you are changing the Saturation. If you are just starting out on Photoshop or need to learn how to really guide yourself on it this book would be great. However, if you can already change things like the contrast or re size and image then I would suggest a more advanced book.

Once again, the For Dummies delivers
Too often, manuals just keep repeating the same tech term over and over, as if by repetition, you'll suddenly understand what it means. What I like about the "For dummies" is that it's in plain language, with a dollop of good humor. It also shows more than one way to achieve the same result, giving you options. I do recommend it for anyone who has CS6 and has only been using it mostly for just cropping, and leveling, and even if you're familiar with it, it will give you some new insights and methods of doing things.

This book is not for beginners or Dummies!
The author of this book is unquestionably knowledgeable in Photoshop. But he is a very poor teacher / writer for beginners. This book is NOT for dummies. In the 1st chapter he is telling you how to do techniques without explaining anything about Photoshop first. That is like a language book talking in greek before teaching you the language. Please don't say your book is for dummies if you are going to write it for people who already know photoshop. I have used photoshop before and I feel for people who waste there money on this book. If this book was for intermediate use, I would say it was great. But for beginners it needs to better explain things. Sorry, I feel I wasted my money.

good for beginner
I have only read half of the book and it seem to provide the information that I need. I also have other book on the same topic and this one is simpler to understand and follow

CS6 For Dummies
After studying other books on this subject I find this to be the best. This book costs £21.99 in bookshops and PC world so is certainly value for money, I paid £9.24 on Amazon. The chapters on 'camera raw' are far more comprehensive than other manuals, with one costing £34.99 only having one page and as the raw interface is one of the most powerful editing tools, it needs more understanding. As the author states, it is a 'reference book' and not a book to be read page by page. There are also plenty of hints and tips on different ways of editing and the book should be useful for expert and beginner alike. The coverage is also good on art work and the use of text, and covers just about every subject that 'Photoshop' is capable of editing Although fully comprehensive it is not intimidating and explains simply and in understandable language. Having said all this, I did move up from 'CS5' so already had a grounding in 'Photoshop'. CS6 is far more complicated, with many more tools so this book has helped there. I have used these books for other subjects and always found them well put together

This is a great book for learning more about PS CS6
This is a great book for learning more about PS CS6. I checked out all sorts of books before I found one that covered the things I wanted/needed to know. It's better than any user's manual.

Great guide
I like this publication. It is easily understood and contains a wealth of useful information, just as I anticipated. If you are an avid Photoshop enthusiast, this book will help you to figure out some of the amazing things this software can produce.
