Many years ago on a cross country roadtrip I bought a boonie hat at a diner in Santa Rosa, NM that had a Route 66 emblazoned on it. It was stolen some years ago now and I have been trying to replace it with one of equal quality and coolness. WELL THIS IS THE HAT!! This hat is fabulous. It is premium quality and brilliantly designed so it can be fitted to the individual's head. It is a great look, has that " Je ne sais quois" that makes it way cool. Since I use this in wet weather as a rain hat it gets a lot of wear here in the mountains of West Virginia and it also looks great as an accessory with every jacket I own. BTW I am a senior and a female, and have gotten many compliments as well as had veterans appreciate it a good deal!! I got it in coyote and it is a versatile, classy color. The decals are well done and beautiful too. They are also removable so you can wear it as you like. I LOVE THIS BOONIE

Love this boonie! Fits comfortably and is adjustable to loosen or tighten. Brim isn’t huge and floppy but just right for sun protection and is also stiff enough to keep the shape you adjust it to. Quality and detail are excellent. Shipping was super-quick!!! Patches are also high quality. Comes with two patches and I chose the US Flag for the front and the DTOM for the back (also came with a free patch offer) I sewed my 101st ABN unit patch on top. Gadsden and Culpeper is a great company.

I wear this every day for summer gardening and dog walking. Seems like good quality. Nice adjustment strap. Great patches!

I'm giving this 4 stars, but if I could give it a 4.5 it would be that because of the low price. I got the black one for reference. The brand stamp on the inside is www.truspec.com which is an Atlanta based company called "ATLANCO" that makes uniforms and gear of all kinds for military and civilians. This hat is 65% polyester and 35% rip stop cotton. Assembled in Honduras. Sturdy enough construction, good stitching overall. The chin lanyard is made of what appears to be a braided polyester. It's not stitched into the hat with any extra stitching that I can see, and it only goes into the hat maybe a quarter to half an inch (from what I can tell), which worries me a bit for durability. The adjustable stop is a decent quality high impact plastic and well designed.The adjustment strap in the headband of the hat is a fairly disappointing nylon or polyester ribbon-like material with the same sort of adjustable stop on it. It seems fairly sturdy, but I would have preferred a round braided nylon cord instead, maybe like the chin strap one. Also, neither of the adjustable stops hold super tight, so that's annoying if you need to adjust the hat tighter. I have an average sized man's head so it fit me without adjustment, but your mileage may vary. Non-issue for me, but I wanted to point it out. The hat is light and comfortable to wear and seems like it will sit nicely and firmly on my head, with or without the strap cord. There is no "sweat band" on the inside of the hat, but there is one on the outside.The Velcro loop panels are pretty decent quality and hold well. The sizes are a little odd compared to most of the other moral patches I own. The larger flag one is a bit small, and the smaller strip one is a touch longer than normal, but both are fit for purpose. The Velcro loop panels appear to be adhesive backed with NO STITCHING holding them on, which is less than ideal IMO. They seem to be holding on fine initially, but we'll see how well they hold up after some use.It has a sort of pouch area on the top inside of the hat, as some of these boonie style hats sometimes do. No Velcro closure on it though which would be nice (I will add one using adhesive-backed Velcro). The metal ventilation hole inserts are decent quality. Not sure what type of metal it is, but I spent some time pulling on them and generally messing with them and they seem sturdy and well attached to the hat material.As with any gear like this that I review, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, and you really can't "review" an item properly until it's actually been used for a while. If this hat has any catastrophic failures while using it I will come back and edit my review appropriately! These are just initial, out of the box impressions of quality and fitness for purpose! I will be using this for hiking, shooting, fishing and similar general outdoor activity.NOTE A: The patches on the hat in my pictures are NOT the ones that came with the hat! The patches that came with the hat are good quality, nicely embroidered with good, strong hook Velcro. I just wanted darker colors on my hat and the white is very bright!NOTE B: CZ75 Compact P-01 Not Included, shown for scale and coolness factor.

I like that it's adjustable.

The hat is exactly what I was looking for to keep in my saddle bag on my motorcycle. The hat can be collapsed to fit in saddlebag or backpack. Provides sun protection face, ears, and neck.
