Island of Dragons (7) (The Unwanteds)

Very well done conclusion to this series!
This was a well done conclusion to the Unwanted series. The story starts with Henry having to go off and save the giant crab from falling over the waterfall discovered in the previous book. After that the rest of the story is pretty much a huge battle between Artime’ and the evil Queen from Warbler island. All of our favorite characters come together in this final epic battle and when things seem hopeless help comes from an unexpected place.I loved the sea dragon and her secret, I also really continued to enjoy Spike as a character. It was nice to see Aaron and Alex working together and finding their places in the world. There was a lot of character growth in this last book.We also get some development around Alex and Aaron’s sisters, which can do some seriously crazy magical stuff. These sisters will be the feature characters in the sister series to this one: The Unwanteds Quests.Overall a very well done conclusion to this series. Lots of awesome characters, tons of action, some great character development, and a great wrap up to the series. Fans of the series will definitely enjoy this wrap-up. I recommend the whole series to middle grade and older readers who love magic and adventure.

Island of Dragons
We met Pan the coiled water dragon in a previous book, but in the Island of Dragons she plays a larger role. Still healing from their last brush with death and destruction, the Artimeans once again find themselves under attack. Sky and Alex's relationship get even more awkward in this last book. Aaron has no idea what flirting is (but somehow does it anyway), Crow takes care of the kids (the twin sisters and Carina's son, Seth), Henry improves his medicine, and games are played in this last book. Unfortunately, the people of Artime have bad luck or something because-once again-they find themselves neck-deep in trouble. Queen Eagala and Captain Baldhead are out for revenge and they have a nearly unstoppable force behind them. The death toll is shocking. Once I got to the middle of the book, I compared the death toll to J.K Rowling's "The Deathly Hallows". Nevertheless, McMann has created a sweet, sad, brilliant, shocking, and completely satisfying end to the incredible Unwanteds Series. I recommend this book with five hundred stars, not just five :) McMann, please write a book about Thisbe and Fifer Stowe, Artime's newest set of twins. Oh, and if you're wondering about Carina and Sean: it's all sappy stuff, romance, and happy endings. Someone, at least, gets a fairy-tale happily-ever-after. Overall, great book that I sincerely recommend.

Yet another great book
I always prepare myself for the quality of sequels to go down with each one, but this has never happened with this series. Every book is hard to put down once you start them. I'm never ready for the book to end. This book allows you to fall in love with Aaron and even root for him! You feel the pain, defeat, fear, and courage with Alex. This book isn't full of happy endings, which makes it more relatable in my opinion. You might catch yourself crying and you will definitely laugh out loud. This series is an excellent series to read if you are a fan of magic and fantasy. It's also great to read along/with your children. I like it more than Harry Potter. I would LOVE to see this series made into movies!!!

Summary/Review of The Unwanteds Island of Dragons
My 11 year-old daughter loved it and cannot wait for more books from this author. She asked to write a review for this book and her review is below:"While Alex is helping the Quillens, Aaron is wondering if he wants to go back to his friends on the Island of Shipwrecks or stay and be the leader of Quill again. After many months, Artime is seeing war again. From Captain Baldhead and the Pirates of Island of Fire, Queen Eagala and Warblerans of Island of Silence, finally attack the peaceful island.Everyone is starting to like Aaron and trust Aaron but Alex has a problem with Aaron. Aaron has magical power, maybe even more than Alex. Alex is having an emotion on Aaron, jealously. As the war between the magical islands fights, secrets get out and those who are loved will be in danger. New magic will be made and more magic than any book will appear. Fans won''t be disappointed by the amazing finale."

Exciting in every turn
This book was exciting as the previous books. Except that I sometimes gets frustrated with Alex's character . He should be a creative one, able to make the hurricanes disappear from the shipwreck island, but why didn't he use the reverse when the pirates attacked? He could have put the spell outside their island so the pirates can't go in to their shore. Hopefully Lisa could use that spell in the future quest. ...just saying..Reading these books really makes me feel like I am in the island watching all these happening around me...instead of reading it. That's how good these books are!

Stunning and dramatic, with surprises around every corner
I started reading the series a little over a year ago. As soon as I started on the first chapter I was hooked. I've watched the characters grow up and change, always eager to get my hands on the next book. This was an amazing grand finale that kept me on the edge of my seat. I nearly started crying multiple times from the dramatic twists. Just when you think all hope is lost, something happens that you really didn't see coming. While I'm sad that the series is over, it was wrapped up well and was far from disappointing.
