This is going to be my go-to for when I start my seedlings each year going forward. This does a great job holding onto water as compared to the garden variety bagged seed starting mix that you get from a box store. All of my seeds that I have planted this year in this medium have thrived. The block that you get is a great size and you do not need to use a lot for when you start your seeds. The coco coir block does not have a smell and is not heavy at all. It does take a little bit of chipping away to break off pieces to use, but other than that it is a great product. Highly recommend this for anyone who is starting seeds for their flower or vegetable gardens.

One brick filled this 18 gallon sterilite bin about 3/4 up. Which is perfect! Any more and I wouldn't have room to mix it around without making a mess. This first time, I broke it all up dry then poured water over it. That was messy and kicked up a lot of dust which is never good for your lungs (shout out to that Rona). Next time I will pour the water into the tub and then drop the whole brick in and let it soak. Partially to keep the dust down, and partially because I wanna see it puff up like one of those bathtub dinosaurs. As far as the product, it's super finely ground which makes it the best thing ever for growing micro greens! I've used local compost, bagged potting mix, bagged top soil and this. I swear I planted the same seeds at the same time, one in top soil and one in this. The coco seeds are a solid inch taller on day 5. Just amazing. I attribute that to it being so light and fluffy that it allows the roots to travel through it easier, and the fact that it holds like 5x as much water before it starts to puddle. There is nothing in the way of nutrients so if you want to use it for fully grown plants you'll have to add in some sort of nutrient for your plants at some point. But the seeds have everything the plants need for the first couple weeks and that's all I care about with micros. Great product, will be ordering many more.

Excellent product. Second purchase, consistent quality, good blend of pith and coir. I use it in a drain to waste system and it works great. it is buffered, but you will need to add calmag right away because it looses the cations quick

Good soil amendment for gardening- particularly for starting seeds or using in pots. Breaks apart easily when left to soak for a bit in warm water. I go through a decent amount of this so I appreciate the value of the large bricks.

I buy a block of this every year. I put it in with the dirt for my planters, and it keeps the dirt from packing down, and it keeps the roots moist. It also helps the soil drain well. Make sure you get a small kiddie pool or a large vessel that you can soak it in it takes about an hour of soaking to fully plump up before you mix it with the dirt.
