I’ve never personally seen distal taper on a machete, this thing is really more of a messer than just a machete. It comes with a nice sheath and it’s sharp out of the box. It’s a good length to stash in a vehicle and forget it’s there. The only issue is the back of the handle on the top is too abrupt, long use leads to a hot spot on my hand. I’ll have to sand that back edge down a bit to make it more comfortable.

The handle will give you hotspots but these are an amazing tool

I'm slicing through 1in diameter saplings in 1 or 2 swings. Chopping through brush and prickers like it's no one's buisness. This can actually hack through trees with minimal to no damages, depending on the size. Sharpened at a 30°angle and the blade holds well.Only problem is the handle. Leaves hot spots and the hand guard digs into your fingers after a while. The fix is $5 worth of self adhesive rubber baseball wrap. My only gripe, like the weight, size and thickness of this blade.
