The New American Webster Handy College Dictionary: Fourth Edition

Very good and handy little dictionary. I look up a lot of old or unusual words and have found just about everything in this book. I also like the little boxes on almost every page explaining differences is usage between similar sounding words. And they also contain interesting information of the origin of some words. Definitions are succinct and to the point. It is also the right size to thumb through quickly and find what you're looking for.

What I like about this small but handy dictionary is that it has many of the features of an unabridged dictionary such as abbreviations, foreign phrase and words, gazetteer, forms of address, measurements, signs and symbols. Many of the words include its etymological background. The gazetteer is extremely handy giving precise and succent information.The section on "How To Use This Dictionary" contains valuable information that is most useful to the user.This dictionary is a good buy for the price.

I bought this new copy as I completely wore out the previous edition! It was virtually "in shreds." I keep the mini-dictionary handy as I read my Los Angeles Times and listen to CNN and MSNBC. With so much "fake news" coming from the White House, I needed to verify with my printed aide. A wonderful volume!

This is a great book to just read. All the words are in alphabetical order, which is very helpful when looking for a meaning.

This dictionary doesn't have all the words I tried to find when looking up a definition.

At the beginning of the semester I was assigned to purchase this dictionary. There was NONE to be found anywhere. I found the Webster's Handy College edition on Amazon. Thank you Amazon. It is a GREAT dictionary - very handy, fits comfortably in my school bag. I used it at every English class, very useful.

I can’t find all the word that I need

Know the word but can't quite get it from your mind to the page? Can't remember whether it is spelled with an "ie" or a "y"? How about that word than ends with "el', or is that "le" Are you pretty sure of a words meaning but you are not 100 % sure? Then this is the book for you.
