The part functions as needed. The plastic clip that clips to the door rod is just molded too tight. Even snapping the rod into place, it will not allow the clip to snap into place. Mine worked fine for a month as I thought the clip was secure and it wasn't. It closes just fine without the rod in place as I removed the clip twice to inspect. I would suggest you remove the orange rod clip from this part and use your old GM one. It will save you a bit of headache. Also, if the door doesn't feel like it is opening right after installing, reposition the striker plate on the body itself. Mine would feel like the door wanted to pop out as I opened, but moving the striker plate 2mm outward and everything feels like stock again.
