Eliminate the conventional winch hook and replace it with a safer and stronger FlatLink shackle thimble and D-ring. The FlatLink shackle mount is the Industry's first folding shackle mount for recovery winches. With less than 1.75 inches of thickness, the Flatlink will work with all roller fairlead license plate mounting brackets. ---------- Conventional winch hooks can cut and fray recovery straps and often allow strap ends to escape during momentary slack cycles of a typical winching recovery. Screw pin shackles do not allow strap loops to escape due to the secure screw pin attachment. The FlatLink does not require splicing and is compatible with steel cables or synthetic ropes up to 3/8 inches in diameter. The cable eye is retained in the FlatLink by a 5/8 inch diameter grade 5 steel double shear pin and internal snap ring. It is installed easily in minutes. The EPDM Rubber Guards protect alloy fairleads and are securely attached to the FlatLink with 4 barbed tips. The FlatLink stows neatly against either roller or Hawse type fairleads and is designed to be used with common 3/4 inch shackles. MADE IN THE USA, the FlatLink is constructed of 6000 series billet aluminum and is anodized/powder coated in 5 different colors.

Just spend the money and buy it.
I asked all the same questions. Why are these Factor 55 products so expensive etc? I watched videos of the president of Factor 55 describing the history of their products. I was impressed by all the reviews but still didn't understand why this product is so expensive. So when I broke down and ordered the Flatlink, I couldn't wait for it to be delivered. Let me be completely honest, when I unboxed this thing I was shocked at the quality. It looked like a big freaking piece of jewlery. I seriously don't even want this thing hanging off the front of my Rubicon! If you are on the fence about buying a Factor 55 product, don't hesitate. Buy it when you can. I installed it on my synthetic rope for my Smittybilt winch. Had to cut the ugly hook off but so be it. The Flatlink looks unreal and I know it will hold up to anything I throw at it.

Really nice fit, finish, and quality.
Really nice addition to my winch. It fit my Rhino shackles fine ( Rhino USA D Ring Shackle (2 Pack) 41,850lb Break Strength - 3/4" Shackle with 7/8 Pin For use With Tow Strap, Winch, Off-Road Jeep Truck Vehicle Recovery, Best Offroad Towing Accessories for ATV UTV ) which are 3/4" with a 7/8' pin. I read through one of the questions and someone said it would not fit, but mine fit fine. I wonder if they were referring to the ATV version of the Flatlink. Much cleaner set up than the Warn hook, not to mention being able to winch with a closed-loop system is actually easier and gives me a good piece of mind with safety. Overall very impressed with the quality, finish, and appearance of the Flatlink.

Great but newer one available!
Love this flat link! Easy install with snap ring pliers. I orient it with the c clip facing up just in case since it is hard to tell if its properly seated. So i wouldve liked an extra c clip incuded for this price. And i would like a rubber plug to install in that hole. For now duct tape will work untill i can find a plug for it. That is nit picking though, desings can always be improved. The flat link looks great! Also i was NOT aware a new and improved version is available for 10 more bucks despite reading all the reviews, somehow missed that :(

machining and finish all look awesome. Frankly
This thing is some serious Jeep bling. I haven't had a chance to mount the winch up in the new Jeep yet, but I picked up the things I needed to get it done... new cable, winch mount, centering plate, fairlead and this FlatLink. I will be putting my old Warn XD9000i into a Rubicon X (like the Hard Rock) steel bumper. For the FlatLink, build quality, machining and finish all look awesome. Frankly, for the price... they should. I really wanted to get the Ultra Hook, but I couldn't justify another hundred dollars for that. When I get all of this mounted up, I will be posting pictures as well as reviews on some of the other products used for the installation.

The ONLY shackle!
Bought a new Jeep and winch - had to get a new shackle! The 3rd I’ve owned. Spend the money and get it right the first time. Tried the alternatives before.

Extraordinary product and quality, one happy customer!
Awesome product, I installed this on a Smittybuit winch with synthetic rope. The factory hook was installed so I cut it out with a disc sander. Lube the pin with waterproof grease and installed. It was a breeze and looks great. Better built and stronger than the hook. It save the rope from being damage on a small collision and you won't have the hook on a shackle. My only complaint is PRICE, expensive and I just don't see why is over $120.00. If they lower the price they will sell tons on this product. Overalls very satisfied and thanks to Amazon to make my life easier.

The perfect addition for any winch
When I installed a winch on the Jeep, I ended up with having decide what to do with the hook. I don't care for the look of having D ring shackles hanging from the bumpers so I ordered a Rugged Ridge 15102.04 Winch Hook Holder but once installed, I changed my mind. The flatlink draws in tight against the bumper providing the solution I was seeking.

A bit pricey, but you know it's quality
Factor55 makes great recovery hardware, and are active in the industry. I like that they are primarily a USA company, and support their products promptly. Not shilling. They really do a great job.
