Recorded at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley; California in 1982; this concert was the last date on the Doobie Brothers' "Farewell Tour." It was an emotional night and would be their last gig for 5 years. The band played a set containing all their best loved hits from across their career and were joined by founding member Tom Johnston for the last two tracks; with former members John Hartman (also from the original line-up); Tiran Porter and Michael Hossack coming on stage for the celebratory finale of "Listen To The Music." The band are in fantastic form and rise to the occasion magnificently; they can rarely have delivered a better performance throughout their distinguished career. - LINE-UP: Pat Simmons - guitars & vocals; Michael McDonald - keyboards & vocals; Keith Knudson - drums; John McFee - guitars; violin & harmonica; Cornelius Bumpus - saxophone; keyboards & flute; Chet McCracken - drums & percussion; Willie Weeks - bass; Bob LaKind - Congas. - TRACK LISTING: 1) Listen To The Music 2) Sweet Maxine 3) Rockin' Down The Highway 4) You Belong To Me 5) Take Me In Your Arms (Rock Me) 6) Long Train Runnin' 7) Black Water 8) Minute By Minute 9) Slat Key Soquel Rag 10) I Keep Forgettin' 11) Out On The Streets 12) What A Fool Believes 13) Jesus Is Just Alright 14) Takin' It To The Streets 15) China Grove 16) Listen To The Music Five tracks from the concert that were cut from the original 1982 film: (1) Little Darling (I Need You) (2) One Step Closer (3) Dependin' On You (4) Real Love (5) No Stoppin' Us Now. - Interviews with the band members and manager.

Keep Rockin' Down your Highways with this DVD..
I first saw the Doobie Brothers in concert in 1975 at the H.I.C. In Honolulu.. My then girlfriend " Barb " gave me my first album by this group and I was hooked.. Great music.. And you can understand all the lyrics also.. They sing , not scream.. All my friends at Maryknoll H.S. and my friends in Kailua loved these guys.. So, Thanks " Barb " from Aikahi Park.. You,our friends and music like the Doobies played made High School a perfect time in my life.. Check this and their other CDs and DVDs and get hooked also..

Any Doobies Fan Would love this video
I had low expectations fot this concert and honestly bought it because of the low price but wow was I surprised! Every hit of theirs was on here and even though it wasnt bluray format the sound was still incredible and the video good enough. Well shot and produced with just enough audience reaction included. This concert brought me back to my 20's in 1 song! Michael McDonald sounded great as usual as did the rest of the band. If you ever bought a Doobies album you have to buy this.

A Good Blast From The Past
This is a good look at the Doobie Brothers live. It is great video and audio, with the disclaimer that rock concerts are dominated by very overpowering instrumentation, drowning out vocals to some degree. This one is not too bad, ok. I guess sound engineers have a challenge trying to make everyone heard and keep them in the balance like you have in a recording studio. I haven't listened to them in a long time, so this was entertaining to watch them perform.

Love it!
I caught this show originally on TV and recorded it (still have the VHS tape). Swore I'd get myself a copy if it ever came out on DVD. My only criticism, and this is my personal opinion and bears no reflection upon the product at all, is that there's footage of the whole concert (some in the bonus features) so it could have been edited and all fully integrated to reincarnate the show as it happened rather than the HBO 'made for TV' version.

I love The Doobie Brothers
I love The Doobie Brothers. Their Music is the theme of my life; especially my College Days of the 70's. Thank you Doobie Brothers for all of your hours of practice and song writing. Thank you Michael McDonald for your Music. You have all enriched my life. Having this DVD allows me to enjoy these shows over and over again. Bless you.

It's GREAT!
Yes the group did change with the addition of Michael McDonald and it was for the better. The Dobbie Brothers could master any style of music and they prove it with this 1982 Farewell Tour DVD. Here you'll find their classic rock and roll with some country and good mix of R & B. I had this concert when it was new on VHS tape. Thank goodness for high tech. The sound was fantastic.

It's the Doobie Brothers. Even not their best it pretty good.
Pretty ok, worth the money, not their best. This is the Doobie Brothers as far as I can tell just before Michael McDonald leaves the group. The players are good but they seem to be individual wannabe rockstars trying to establish an identity for when he leaves. His keys are well down in the mix. Apparently half of these guys were new to the group and trying to fill big shoes. They sound like good musicians playing together on the songs Michael McDonald leads and when the old lead singer comes back as a special guest with some of the older members at the end. I'm guessing or rather whoever had his guitar turned up too loud on Michael Mconald's songs is ashamed now. It was amazing to see how the same band sounded like completely different groups depending on who was leading the song. At one point the rest of the band is hyping the crowd and its just MM and the organ/sax player. That interlude is glorius and glaring. If you are a Doobie Brother's fan, buy this its still pretty good. Or you can call me and I'll lend it to you.

Great Show! Excellent DVD!
I am just now starting to check out the Doobies and I am glad I picked this DVD to start. I have an SACD of one their early records and now this. I was pretty hesitant to pick this up when I saw it was from '82. 1) because I did not know what the Video would be like and 2) a lot of Band's from the 60's and 70's got lost in the '80's. They tried to update their sound (funny thing is that updated sound is what sounds dated now) and it really never worked. Plus people want to hear the songs they way they were recorded. I mean you can stretch them out but putting 80's drum or keyboard sound on a song recorded in the mid 70's is nothing short of sacrilege in my opinion. None of that happens here. the band is tight and doing the songs with the right arrangements. The video is fixed up perfectly and the 5.1 mix is very good. Basically using the front speakers for the music and the rears to give you a hall feel with audience and reverb. 22 minutes of bonus tracks in 5.1. Really sharp image for video from 1982. Could not be happier with this. Well actually I could do with less Micheal MacDonald but it's still great!

Neil Diamond - Live At The Greek
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00486EJMW/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_title.............I thought & i assumed that other Neil Diamond fans may have also thought that Neil Diamond's Live At The Greek was a follow up to the official release of Love at The Greek, which was available on VHS only. I was disappointed with the DVD "Live At The Greek". I have now watched it for the 3rd time & all the songs, not all of them were in my opinion had been taking from the offical Video recording Love At The Greek. The DVD had most of the footage from the VHS Tape. I was surprized & annoyed that when you watched the DVD "Live At The Greek" (I bet Neil dosn't know) as after every track that was sung the DVD quite often jumped to the next track, this happened from the begining to the end of the DVD. A child could have made the DVD better. If i didn't get it from Amazon, i would have said it was a copy. I think my Son could have copied my Love at The Greek VHS if he knew how!As a die hard Neil Diamond Fan, even with my negative coments i am quite happy to add it to my collection until i can find some way or person that can legally copy the VHS to DVD...A Very Belated Happy 70th Birthday Jan' 24th 2011 & your Inductee to The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame later this year. (You have to be a Singer/Songwriter for 25years & you have given us four decades. Congrats:)

Disappointing !
I am a great admirer of Neil Diamond and all his music. I was therefore disappointed with yet another DVD which merely trades on the original Hot August Night 1972 probably the best live music concert ever. Sadly the concert has only ever remained on a VHS tape which is no longer available or playable. The fact that the concert has never been transfered to a DVD is either a massive financial mistake or a deliberate ploy to make the millions of Neil,s fans continue to buy other collections with a photo from the original concert on the cover. Can someone please get on and do this transfer so all Neil Diamond fans old and new can see him at his very best.

I'm So Glad They Lied
I'm a Doobie. I've never passed the initiation test or been granted admission but for as long as there's no credential check, I'm a Doobie. I love every album they've made (not every song) and all their videos. This was a chance to meet the Doobies, old and new, for their farewell concert. Thank goodness it turned out not to be their farewell. More like their "by for now" concert. OHK the production values have been improved in the ensuing years but this video captures the essence of their music and almost makes you feel like you're there. Oh and those "special guests" are all the former members of the band that could make it that night.
