Major Dudes: A Steely Dan Companion

As a fan of Steely Dan, I was looking forward to reading this, but finding alot of the content very repetitive.

Great Book! If you like Steely Dan it is a great read.

Great collection of writing about this enigmatic band. Some repetition of stories and anecdotes but nonetheless insightful into the band, their exacting work in the studio and their work with countless session players and sidemen. Well worth the money and nicely presented.

This was filled with memorable interviews and essential information. The one drawback for me is caused by the compilation format. The fact that Becker and Fagan met at Bard College (and played in a band with Chevy Chase) is mentioned dozens of times. Other information and even some direct quotes are also repeated. That said, this is a worthwhile read and will have to do until a well researched comprehensive treatment arrives.
