I started out with a much cheaper vfd to run my 3 phase motor for a knife grinder I made. Made a protective box for it to shield from the metal dust. It crapped out within 1hr of use. This vfd is pricey but appears to be the industry standard, and for good reason. If you need a vfd that is environmentally sealed for harsh environments, this is the one. Bought the add-on reverse and start stop switches which were easy to install.

Just bought this vfd and just got around to setting it up. Setup is easy but when started up I get a lot of chatter and vibration at lower frequencies but purrs just fine at higher frequencies. I've followed instructions and did recommended settings on jumpers and trim pots to no avail. Motor is a 3hp baldor which turns freely by hand with no bumps or glitches. Wiring is new and I'm using 12ga. I'm trying to solve the problem before considering returning vfd. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Bought it so that I could run a 2HP three phase motor using single phase 220/240v power. This will power a belt grinder/sander (2x72) that I'm building. Was fairly easy to wire up. I DO wish that all three holes were the large ones. Then it would have been easier to position the different wire bundles going either to the VFD or to the motor. Plus, the housing is TIGHT to part where the wires get connected. Be sure you don't drop any of the screws for the wires or you'll be hating life. I did, but it stayed where I could grab it with some needle nose pliers. Yeah, I got lucky on that one.
