I learned how to draw chickens, horses, cats, and castles. Now I can add these to my embroidery. I had this book out of the library so often, I bought it.

This is one of my all time favorite books! It will make a beautiful gift for yourself or a friend. I will treasure mine! My daughter and I love to sit down and practice drawing or painting together. I have practiced flowers, and castles. They are perfectly whimsical. Thank you to the author, this is a special collaboration of her work.

This book is so beautiful and such high quality. I have the hard cover, and the printing is raised and beautifully glossy on a matte background. Inside is full of beautiful hand-drawn illustrations and some step by step guides on how to draw them, as well as some areas where instead of exactly how to duplicate what she has done, she explains the reasoning behind certain details or patterns. In the back there is a section called "Project Ideas" where she teaches you how to carve a stamp and then provides visual inspiration about what you could do with your stamp or your motifs that you draw.The tutorials are brief, but are perfect for someone who already knows their way around a paint brush and just wants to learn to have a more folkloric style. I can't wait to spend the weekend with this book.

I bought this to inspire me and teach me about folk art and boy oh boy does it have everything I need and it is STUNNING to boot. If this type of art, including people, animals and mythical creatures appeals to you, your money will not be wasted on this.

The media could not be loaded. Dinara presents several step-by-step instructions on how to draw flowers, foliage, insects, and animals. My best guess is that about half of the book is instructional. The other half of the book is inspirational with a lot of beautiful images and scenes. I kind of wish there were more how-to's in the book. She is putting a lot of faith in our abilities to figure it out for ourselves and I have to appreciate that.The last section is on project ideas. Again, not a lot of instruction, but she shows you ways to use the folk art around the home.If you are interested in learning how to make folk art in her style, I highly recommend this book.
