Purchased switch for my 02 Neon after engine light illiminated and gave a P0551 code. Took switch to my mechanic who installed with no issues in about 15 min (its pretty easy). Started car, light turned off, everything sounded good and pullied out of garage. As soon as the wheels were turned, PS fluid started pooring out. Mechanic was completely perplexed as to what the heck happened. The switch blew right out of the PS rack. After removing the newly installed switch and using a micrometer, it was noted that the new switch threads were ~ 0.008 smaller. Enough of a difference at a couple hundred PSI of pressure to blow it right out. Currently going thru a claim process because now i need a nee PS rack as the threads have been damaged as a result of poor quality control. Find another option and save yoyrswlf the pain. I tried using the "Add a photo" feature here but doesnt seem to work

I recently changed my steering rack. The new part had a chipped sensor. So to be safe, I bought a new one. While I was bleeding the power steering system, the sensor popped out and the fluid with it. Luckily I had a catch pan and some rags handy. I put the sensor in the old rack and noticed it didn't make a firm connection here either. To fix the issue, I sprayed some electrical contact cleaner on the old sensor and fitted it into the new rack. So far so good.

Switch failed after 13 months: Power steering fluid started to flow out of the switch, causing loss of steering and potential damage to steering components. The original 15 year old switch was leaking slowly and triggered the code for check engine light to give warning before seal failure. I recommend that the manufacturer improve quality control.

I purchased two parts for my 2008 PT Cruiser. One was this pressure sensor and the other was a power steering pump. The pump failed within one hour of use, as did this part - the gasket blew out. I spent twice as much as I wanted on labor to install both parts twice. Lesson to be learned here is to not purchase automotive parts on Amazon according to my mechanic. They are seeing a flood of cheap parts from China that are cheap in price, AND don't last.

This is the correct power steering pressure switch for a PT cruiser and presumably many other Chrysler products. The price was good and it fit correctly Use care when installing. It takes a big wrench to fit it and has tiny hard steel threads threading into aluminum. Just tighten enough to compress the O-ring and be careful not to put side pressure on the plastic head while installing.

Fit my 2001 PT Cruiser. 150 miles since replacing it and it appears to be working well. P0551 code has cleared and has not returned. No leaks.UPDATE: 2 months later and it's leaking. No check engine light yet, but it's going to need to be replaced. It gets 2 stars.

Sometimes it's the little things. This steering system pressure valve threads directly into the steering unit. Easy to install, quick dis-connect / connect harness. Dash warning light is out.

Easily solved my problem with my car. Because of the bad sensor I had before the the idling rpm was a little bit high just enough to increase fuel consumption to an annoying level. Price was also a factor in ordering the product.

works as is should. Was 1/2 the price and most online retailer.
