ASICS Men's, Gel-Contend 7 Running Shoe - Extra Wide Width

The first pair I had got was defected, the bottom part was misaligned so it felt very weird but I sent it back and got another pair that was perfect! I always get these for running. They are inexpensive but last a good while. I had the old version before and upgraded to this one. They been doing me very good. They are very light and comfortable, sometimes I even wear them just as regular shoes when I feel like being extremely comfortable :)

I usually wear a size 12-12.5, but with these ASICS shoes, I had to size up to a 13 to get the right fit. It's crucial to follow the manufacturer's sizing guide and, if possible, measure your foot accurately before purchasing. I've been an Asics customer for years and have always loved them. While this is a comfortable shoe, I find the toe box is a bit too narrow and the insole a bit thin. As a result it isn't as comfortable for me as in the past, which is why I gave it only 4 stars. Other than that it is a nice shoe.

They are good shoes for running and walking I run 4- 5 mile a day. They have a good gel insert that are comfortable on your feet. They look and feel good . they are a good price for the money.

A solid shoe if you lower your expectations in line with the price.I bought these in hopes of running in them but that's not to be. They fit very well and feel sturdier than other shoes which are mostly mesh, but there's simply not very much in the way of cushioning - I've run hundreds of miles in my old Asics Gel Pulse 11s and they are very worn, but they still provide more cushioning then these Gel Contend 7s do, new out of the box! I'm 5' 10'' and 165 lbs., so not exactly a great demand on the shoes as impact goes. These wear the 'Gel' brand name but I don't believe these actually contain gel insoles. In fact, the insoles are non-removable and this is the first time I've owned Asics with non-removable insoles, so kind of surprising!In summary, these shoes are probably not great for serious runners but that's understandable at this price point. For daily wear for people with wide feet, you could do a lot worse! The wide widths are actually as wide as they claim and that alone makes them worth every penny.Other reviewers advised ordering a half-size up and they were correct; in 13 X-Wide these are exactly the same size and fit just like my old Asics Gel Pulse 11s in 12.5 X-Wide, so order at least a half-size up.

I wanted to review this shoe to aid others in evaluating whether to buy a pair.I am notoriously hard to fit in any shoe, and I will not compromise on fit and comfort, and durability is an extra benefit. This shoe meets all of those standards for me.I wear a size 12 in most shoes, and they need to be wide too. I have previously bought Asics Gel-contend 3 size 12 4E width, and I wasn’t sure that the 12 Extra Wide was the same, but it is if you are wondering.Next, I was certainly not sure that the overall comfort of the shoe would match my previous Asics shoes which I loved, but these are exactly the same which kind of amazed me since my previous experience with shoes has been that you will find a brand and model that you really like, only to see them either discontinued or changed in design such that they are uncomfortable (Sketchers are you listening?). So my previous pairs are now over 6 years old and structurally sound, but looking a bit scruffy from daily use so I am happy that I found these, and I got the gray/red ones, and they are beautiful. I decided that since these fit so well that I would get another pair in all black so they won’t show dirt so easily.I realize that shoe preference is a pretty subjective thing since feet vary so much, so I hope my added details will help.

Great running shoes! Great, supportive fit! Great neutral to pronate stance support. However, the shoes do run 1/2 size smaller than the norm and as a result, the 11s that I normally order were too small. But, the 11.5s fit perfectly. Also know that the shoes run quite NARROW. This is not a problem for me as I have narrow feet. But people who are normal to wide widths will definitely have an issue. Apart from all of the fit idiosyncrasies of these shoes, they feel great and I love wearing them. As you can see in the picture, I have replaced the laces with Lock Laces; elastic laces that increase and enhance a shoe's comfort and also decrease injuries. All of my athletic footwear has them. I would never use a pair of athletic shoes without Lock Laces, I love them so much. Highly recommend the Asics, just order a half-size larger.
