This has a design flaw... although the bench is waterproof, if it rains, water will collect in the grooves of the seat-top, so when you open it-- all that water gets dumped into the box. But we found a work around: slide a shim under each of the 2 front legs, just to elevate those legs slightly. When you open the lid, any water that may have collected is thrown behind the bench, not in it. Problem solved-- and the solution is undetectable.

Q: What size seat cushion should i buy to fit this? Will 51in cushion work?

I just measured the seating area and 51 would work if width is 17" or smaller . The seating part the lifts up is 49" x 18" if that helps.
