Carbon 14 Review: My introduction to Stephane Wrembel - I had just finished watching 2 Woody Allen movies in a row and I was particularly drawn to a style of music that I had never heard before. I watched the credits on the first movie, Vicky Christina Barcelona, to see the artist and wrote him down to research another day. When to my surprise, watching the credits for the second movie, Midnight In Paris, I found the same artist with the same style music. I was thrilled to find Wrembel. I have since purchase several of his CD's and absolutely love the Django style and musicality of his pieces. I have found a new genre and cannot wait to explore more. Stephane Wrembel is amazing making this CD worth the purchase. Review: Excellent seller. - Excellent, item as described.

Great guitar work
A modern take on django. great use of drums, and harmonic minor give it an exotic flavor. I heard it on NPR and had to pull over and write down the name of the album. It's that good.

am delighted. Wrembel is definitely influenced by Django Reinhart
No question about it. Stephane Wremble's Origins is a five star disc. After watching Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris, I wondered who was the player of the guitar music that Woody used several times during the course of the movie. Looked it up, saw it was Stephane Wrembel, ordered the disc, am delighted. Wrembel is definitely influenced by Django Reinhart, but he is not imitator. He just incorporates some of the stylings of Django's, which is great to hear — contemporary music influenced but by no means limited to Django's concepts. In the majority of pieces, Stephane plays and improvises with orginality, complexity, and considerable melodic/harmonic beauty, passion, and depth. He is ably accompanied by a rhythm guitar, acoustic bassist, and drummer. A worthwhile album all around.

and it was one of the best shows I've ever attended
Saw him live last night, and it was one of the best shows I've ever attended. He played a lot off this album, and all four musicians (Wrembel and his trio) killed every track. Some of the soloing was truly mind-blowing and goes to show it's ALWAYS worth checking out jazz groups live, as you know they will improvise, and not just comp the recorded material. Make it a mission from God to see them if they come to town. He mentioned a huge Django Reinhardt festival at the end of next February in New York, and I think we gotta go.

Too psychedelic but still good!
I am not going to lie: I like Stephan's earlier Gipsy Jazz recordings. This one has a taste of Pink Floyd and Middle Eastern themes. I do however admire his guitar technique as well as several compositions on this disc are absolute hits. I am giving it 5 stars with a hope he will eventually go back to his roots. I really think he can turn Gipsy Jazz around and take it to a new level that no one else could before...

tour de force performance captured on recording
Stephane Wrembel is a musician's musician, a real force-of-nature guitarist. Not content to be known as a Django copyist, he has forged his own unique musical voice, a heady brew of manouche and jazz, for certain, but with exotic additions of Indian and Arabic influences, mixed seamlessly together. He is truly a guitarist for the 21st century.

Beautiful CD
Great CD with a nice combination of rhythms .... very relaxing. I enjoy listening to this while driving, or working on art projects. Would also be nice as background music for a dinner party. I intend to purchase more of Stephane Wrembel's recordings.

Got my first wrembel collection -bistro fada - a year ago after hearing his stuff at the Perugia Jazz Festival. Loved it. When I first started listening to this album I thought there was going to be a lot of repeated tracks from the first album but on second listening there was no question of disappointment because as a collection this album really works well. Really relaxing and the guitar playing is superb.

Pretty good CD - it was more of a mixed bag than I had expected - I had heard the track that sounds like Django Rheinhart on the radio & bought the album on the strength of that. The music is all good, just not all in that idiom.
