Went through it so easily, happily and in utter amazement.
With a home tugged inside a lazy yet rush village in Kerala, I saw everything striking a chord with me in Anjana Menon’s “journal relishing her memories”. Thats the name I would like to call it. She finds meaning in little day to day incidents. A must read for you if you love to read sipping chai.😄

Fun light read with amazing real stories from Kerala at the time of the pandemic
I was amazed to know about the steps taken by the Kerala government to check on people who came back to Kerala from different parts of the world due to the pandemic...be it about the checkin calls from the police & the counsellor or be it the women cops on bullets making rounds to check on people in quarantine!Overall I enjoyed reading this fun light read about life in the lockdown with so relatable characters..#onaminanightie #kerala #lifeinlockdown #stories #bookstagram

Good for a light read
An interesting read. Being from Kerala and having lived in Thrissur for a few years, I loved reminiscing about those days through the writer. The characters are well sketched out and you would feel like you know them personally. Though the story begins with a quarantine and the tightening grip of the pandemic in the later half it just becomes sort of a journal of the writer's life in thrissur with the pandemic taking a backseat, not exactly doing justice to the title. Anyway I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone looking for a light read.

Life to be lived slow
A letter written to AuthorHi , just finished your book. Felt like I visited Thrissur from your eyes and your words. If life permits i will surely visit and will read the book again. Loved the way you put the daily life, loved the spirit of just living life as life needs to be lived slow and we should see it through the eyes of people around us .

A Contemporary Malgudi Days.
I have always enjoyed Malgudi Days - as a read and as the classic TV series. It reminds me of simpler times and my early childhood in South India. So it was natural that I enjoyed reading Onam in a Nightie. It feels like a contemporary retelling of R. K. Narayanan complete with sketches like those made by R. K. Laxman in the original. The author paints evocative word portraits of the town, the atmosphere and the characters in her stories. It is a light and breezy read, the kind of book that makes me wish I had written it!

Covid induced slow life in southern India
It makes you dream of tropical holidays during freezing winter months with heart warming accounts of family love, childhood memories, lush nature and rich tradition amidst the pandemic. Highly recommend!

Nostalgic
Brilliant book which takes one back to one's childhood days especially if we have lived in Kerala in the 80's and 90's which I have. Anjana's narration in the book of the Thrissur Pooram, the different foods of Kerala, the joint family system and the workings of it, retired parents etc relate to all of us who have retired parents and family in India. The feelings we all are experiencing during this prolonged pandemic are very relatable to what the author goes through during her quarantine time in Kerala. Above all very simple and evocative erudition. I will recommend this book to all Keralites living away from our native state.
