very simple, but won't let you down.
Summary: This is such a simple product that you might be wondering why my review is so long. The fact is I love getting products that work reliably and do their job, no matter how simple they are, and I love praising good products. The only drawback of this laptop stand is that it's not adjustable. And no, I don't work for Rain Design and I paid for this with money.Build Quality (10/10): This is made of solid aluminum. No plastic. It just feels really premium, and I'm sure it will last forever. I would probably need a sledgehammer to damage this in any way.Appearance (10/10): This thing just looks cool. It keeps your laptop at a healthy height for viewing the screen, and It especially looks good with MacBooks, and any laptops made of aluminum really. I have a giant Dell Inspiron made of aluminum and black plastic, and my roommate has a MacBook pro, and they both look great on the stand. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to make their desk look cleaner, cooler, and more ergonomic.Functionality (9/10): The only reason it's not a 10 is because it's not adjustable. However, given the simplistic nature of this product, I don't really mind. In my tests it cooled down my laptop fairly effectively. The hole in the back helps with cable management. There's some space under where the laptop goes that works well for storing small speakers, or anything you don't want to see on your desk. Any size laptop is completely stable when sitting on this stand, and the stand is completely stable on any surface. Like I said earlier, laptops sit at a healthy height on most desks. I usually just throw my laptop on the stand when I get home, instead of having it sit awkwardly on my desk, getting in the way of papers.Overall, I have really nothing bad to say about this stand. It's a little expensive, but it's worth every penny for the quality and build. If you don't feel the need to get a stand that you can adjust, nothing can really beat this product.

This is the ONE
I've gone through several stands over the last few years. I have a couch with a table to the side, and since I'm in IT and work at night a lot remotely on client systems, I keep my laptop running 24/7 and near me. So I've had a few stands for my various laptops that I've tried and used for a while, then replaced. I want something solid that I can just lean over and type on while it's in the stand, or something that's easy to get the laptop on and off of as I pull it to use on my lap.Since it's on a table, I also wanted some space for still being able to have some things on the table. And the space underneath this is perfect for one of my USB 3 external drives, my small logitech keyboard for my media center, and an LED control remote I keep by where I sit.Solid. VERY solid. I can type on this with no movement or bouncing of the laptop at all (15" retina macbook pro). It's easy to get on and off as well. The height is PERFECT for my needs and it looks good sitting here as well, whether the laptop is on it or off of it.They talk about the heat dissipation for the laptop but with the air between the laptop and the aluminum here, I'm not sure how much heat actually transfers, since it's already had to transfer off the laptop to the air to reach this in the first place. But there's no doubt it will absorb heat - we've had a week of 98 to 104 degree days here, and even when this was just in the back of the fed ex truck today for delivery, it got hot enough that when I opened it after taking it from the delivery person's hands, it was almost too hot to touch.Great looks, rock solid, a perfect choice for someone looking for a good laptop stand. Best I've ever had, and this one is definitely a keeper.

A great laptop stand
At first, I was skeptical of the price, especially when I opened up the box and what I was presented with was nothing but a thick chunk of shaped metal. However, now that I've been using this for a bit of time, I can attest to it's quality:1. This thing is STURDY. One of my children is a curious (read: nosy) four year old who loves to inspect anything she can get her hands on. No amount of her typing, tugging, pulling or otherwise manipulation of the work laptop upon this stand has budged it in the slightest. Unless you are (an adult) intentionally trying to remove the laptop from the stand, your computer is very stable.2. It's actually great for hiding wires. It has a hole in the back for tunneling wires towards/away from the computer, and this stand being the hunk of metal that it is, does a nice job obscuring such wires, which gives the stand a nice, clean look on a desk with a little bit of care. For some people, this matters a lot, which gives this stand an edge over the more architecturally sparse stands on Amazon.3. The space between the "legs" of the stand and the "floor" where your computer rests is a great place to hide your phone while getting work done. I put mine on a charger and hide my phone there, which is really nice for limiting any tendencies to check my phone when I have a lull in my attention span. Since you can't see the phone when it rests there, but you can still hear it, I found myself pleasantly surprised that this stand could enable better productivity from my bad habits. It's a good stand and it's worth the money, especially if you have dual monitors and/or you're trying to improve the ergonomics of your workspace.
