DancoVersiTech Cartridge for GLACIER BAY Tub and Shower Faucets (10773) , Black

I bought this item to fix my tenants shower. It work great.

This was the second replacement I tried. The first was too short and the specifications onine did not disclose proper measurements. This is a perfect fit for a replacement to the aqua source shower cartridge total length 5 1/2 inches and 40 millimeters in diameter. You must shut off your main water source and remove the cartridge to see the correct length and diameter to get the right one that goes goes with your current shower mixer. I am not a plumber and my building maintence guy said it would cost me $300.00 to $600.00 and I was able to do this myself ordering on Amazon. As long as you have the right measurement it can be done. In my case the showere cartridge washers were melted together and there was no hot water coming from the showerhead (you can see the black small melted cartridges in one of the pictures). The washers were not sold individually. The local hardware stores (3 of them) told me good luck with that. It has now been a month and working perfectly. Water flows nicely and with preasure, my wife is happy.

We have really hard water in Denver which cakes into the shower valve and cartridge and hinders sealing and reduces longevity. Including the one that came with our flipped house, this is the third cartridge our shower valve has had. Though Glacier Bay is cheap and crappy relative to Delta, Moen, Pfister, etc., I believe it's actually the water we have. At any rate, this is a direct replacement. I used a touch of silicone lube ("Superlube") to lubricate, preserve, and ease insertion of the cartridge, particularly on seals. I hope this helps with sealing and cartridge longevity. I first used vinegar and a blue (non-scratching) 3M scrubby sponge to remove as much as possible of the mineral deposits from the inside of the bronze shower valve before inserting the new cartridge. Local plumbing supply shops charge more than double for this cheap part. I love to support the local guy, but not at over a 100% premium. Buy it here because even if you can find it elsewhere (not in HD locally for example), it will be way overpriced.

To install I just watched a YouTube video and the installation was easy except for the new seal made it a tight fit to push into the housing. I used plumbers grease to make it easier to install and remove when needed. Had to replace the cartridge since I couldn’t find a gasket repair kit for the cartridge.

Both products were no good and are both being returned for a full refund. Had to purchase a new shower kit.

it fit well and working. Homedepot didnt have this part in stock because its pretty old. mahe sure you clean all the parts before reinstalling the cartiage
