This DIY test is more affordable and has a faster turn around time than the local state run laboratory - the product worked as described, and I like knowing that I have more tests on hand to use this upcoming season. Easy to use, easy to read.

Used it twice. Both trials were easy to do and successful.

Pretty straightforward and easy to use. I did 2 tests.. 1 with our untreated well water (that i know has 35 ppm bacteria) one with treated water w uv light. At 48 hours both samples looked the same (bight yellow) it took another 3 days before the contaminated sample showed bacteria ... I wouldn't use this if you need something accurate. Reading it is straightforward but it's hard to accurately determine how much bacteria you have with the color system they use

Very pleased with product, do have to be careful not to overfill. The test tubes arrived, ahead of time, but with apparently scarcely any media (yellow powder) or none at all in the tubes - turned out it was there all the same, and works, as so little powder is required. I admire the promptness and ease with which both Amazon and the Seller guided me to resolve the issue in a simple, straightforward way, when the unexpected can rouse feelings that could muddle the process: a hearty "well done!" to both! I like that the product is compact, and can give results after just a day or two incubation (depending on temperature). I use a precaution of applying 1:1 dilute bleach & wait 1 min, and run water 3-5 min after, to avoid false negatives or false positives. I use it to check our water supply system in 4 places: from an outdoor hose bib, and from 3 sink faucets.

My initial test, using tap water, came up negative, based on the pale yellow color of the liquid in the vial after a couple of days. Since the reviews of many of these test kits complain of false negatives, I decided to verify the quality of this kit by testing water from an unflushed toilet (I know, yuck). That test came up negative as well; after several days, the color of the water was indistinguishable from the color of the water in the first vial. Update: A few days after writing my initial review, when I went to discard my used test vials, I saw that, lo and behold, the "control" sample had in fact changed color. It took far longer than the 48 hours described in the instructions (this sample was about a week old), but it did yield the expected result.

I wanted this to make sure a local creek was not too polluted for my dog to enjoy, or me to wade in with her. Of course, I have no way of knowing if the test is wrong...but assuming it was right, it was easy to use. Took 48 hours to determine, though.

Successfully found bacteria coming from my reverse osmosis water filter system. After disinfecting the tap after the last stage of the filter using a de-calcification liquid I tested the water again and there were no more indications of bacteria, also the water now tastes better/perfect.

Convenient, and reasonable cost compared to labs. Had a new well drilled, and after a lot of running around(since the cottage is in another province) I had to use a private lab for the first test (because I wanted documentation for my real estate file). Now I use this product annually at the start of the season as a simple, quick test. I now take one of the pack down to check Mom's seasonally used place once a year, so I use the 4 within the 2 yr shelf life.
