A botched surgery on a simple broken tibia and I'm going to be using a cane the rest of my life. Am I happy about it? Not so much. However, when life gives you lemons, sell the lemons, hire a good attorney and go out an buy a cool cane so at least you don't look like a complete invalid hobbling around the frozen foods aisle at the grocery. I've had a few now; first a cheap-o aluminum job, then a "typical" wooden cane I purchased from an antique dealer (not bad for five bucks), and now this Derby cane.What can I say? It's great. Feels perfect in my mid-sized hand, easily supports my rather impressive 200-plus pounds and is stylish as all get-out.The workmanship, while not superlative, is very nice, particularly for a product in this price range. The finish is near flawless and the seam where the head meets the post is smooth and without gaps of any kind. Using it I feel as if I'm making a fashion statement, rather than advertising the fact I'm now on the gimpy side.I won't claim this thing is actually a chick magnet, but since I'm married and 60, I don't really need a lot of magnetism in my life. No, I can't say I'm happy about the messed up leg, but I will admit I actually kind of enjoy using this particular cane. My wife says "I own it," which I believe is meant as a compliment, but she's younger than me and has a vocabulary I don't always understand.At any rate, buy the cane. You won't regret it. (One caveat, however, as noted by other reviewers: the cane comes quite long and must be cut to size. Fortunately, instructions on how to do this come with the unit.)

I had a stroke and am now using a can to walk. This fits my needs well. I just wish there were more feet. It wares out quickly.

My son is very impressed with his cane. He had a bad car accident and broke a leg and an arm. He used a crutch for a while, and then was able to use a cane and wanted a nice one so he picked this one out. He likes natural wood and liked the looks of this one and the reviews. We had to have his brother shorted about a half inch off of the bottom, but other than that it is working out very well for him and it is quite sturdy and solid. He has had no problems and it appears quite well made. We knew it would be a little too tall when we ordered it, so having to shorting it was not a surprise. The finish is a little on the thin side, as it was very easy to scratch when we cut the bottom off. We will need to get some protective coating to cover it over with, but that is not a problem, as real wood is not hard to finish, and his brother is experienced in finishing wood.

Not bad for the price and nice looking, plus sturdy.

I love this cane. It's my first cane and I hated the thought of having a cane at all. Well, HARVY now goes everywhere with me. I feel lost without it. I tore up my knee a bit; and then I tore up some muscles in my thigh (on the same leg) so I figured I needed some protection. Well, the cane helps a bit with getting out of my car, but not all that much. It helps greatly when I change from a sitting position to standing...as when I'm dining at my local buffet, and it's time to get up and go for dessert.But what totally surprised me is that it really makes walking around so much more pleasurable...and I didn't think I needed any help in that area. I even use it when I walk around the house! There was a small chip in the handle, but I feel that the chip just gives the cane some character.
