How long does it take protectaclear to completely dry? 2 weeks?

Accepted Answer

Depending on the thickness of the coat of ProtectaClear that is applied and the temperature, it can take a couple of hours for the coating to completely dry.  It can take a couple of weeks for the coating to completely cute and get as hard as it possiibly get.  ProtectaClear should be completely cured before filling fountains with water or before packing and shipping.  Heat will speed cure the coating.  After the coating is completely dry, the coated item can be placed in a low temperature oven or put out in the sun to cure the coating.

Question 2

Can this product be used on cast iron, steel, or steel alloys?  How well does it bond?  Does it crack or flake?  Is it resistant to oil, lubricants?

Accepted Answer

When dealing with the metals you described, we recommend our Everbrite coating. It is a thicker coating that has excellent adhesion to most metals. Question 3

If it gets scratches can they be buffed out?

Accepted Answer

If a surface that is coated with ProtectaClear gets scratched, it can be fixed by applying another coat of ProtectaClear.  The coating blends to itself and will fix any scratches.  Because the coating is thin, buffing it will just remove more coating.  The surface should be clean and dry before you apply another coat of ProtectaClear.

Question 4

can this be used on chrome that is over die cast? can this be used on polished/buffed stainless steel? on bare aluminum?

Accepted Answer

ProtectaClear is perfect for coating both chrome and polished stainless steel as it is recommended for all highly polished metals. It is practically invisible, yet provides protection to keep the metal looking freshly polished.  For most projects, we recommended two coats. On bare aluminum, an additional coat may be necessary.
