Spoiler-free: A hilarious and brilliant picture book with such a funny ending! :)
This is such a brilliant and funny picture book. ‘It’s Mine!’ is a little wider than A4 and the paperback is filled with thick matt pages of illustrations and some text. Mouse sees the thing, a round object and thinks it’s a piece of fruit so mouse takes it home to eat it, but then Frog sees the thing and things it’s a wheel and steals it from Mouse. The story in this book is so simple and so funny at the same time. The thing mouse sees ends up being taken by Frog who thinks it’s a wheel and begins using it as such, but then another animal believes the thing is something else, and this continues for quite a few pages. I love what happens in the end and how we finally find out what the thing really is. I won’t spoil it by telling you, but it’s such a funny ending and one I really enjoyed. The book has an interesting and different way of displaying the animals and the thing on each double page. There are circle holes cut out on various pages which allow a part of the next or previous page to be seen through this hole. I like how this works, I’ve left photos to show how it works and it’s a fun way of showing the story without revealing too much detail too quickly. The illustrations are so great. I’ve loved every book by Emma Yarlett so far and this one is no exception. The way all the characters look is so funny, I love the expressions on them all, the details in the pictures around them and how colourful and great each image is. The fun way that a part of the next page is seen is brilliant, with certain characters and the thing visible through the hole, but the important next part of the story is hidden until you turn the page. This is definitely a book I’d recommend and one which I believe children will love reading again and again. There’s some great repetition in what each animal says about the thing being theirs, and the final ending is so brilliant and funny, it’s just a great book and one I’m sure many kids, and adults, will enjoy reading.-Thanks to Walker Books for a free copy for review.

Surprise ending
This is a fun and enjoyable book. At first I thought it was a bit predictable and although I was enjoying it I thought I knew how it was going to end but I was wrong. It has a very sweet ending and makes the book enjoyable to read and young children would find it very exciting. The pages where the surprise egg is have been die cut out in a round shape which added to the charm of the book. All the animals want to claim the surprise egg as theirs but who will eventually claim the egg??Illustrations very well done and nice colours. There is not a lot of text on the pages.I received this Advanced Reading Copy directly from the Publishers for review purposes.

Everyone wants it - but is it really theirs?
An object appears. Nobody seems to own it... ooh, is it a fruit? A chair? A ball? A wheel?Animal after animal takes possession of the 'thing', swiping it from one another, until its true destiny is revealed. And its true owner too...The repetition of the story is amusing, as the reader knows each animal sees the 'thing' through its eyes as something else (the peepholes make it look different to each of them), then each steals it from the last.We get the last laugh as every animal discovers together that they may not actually want to call it 'mine' at all. And there's even a good 'cuddle' moment at the very end. #With very few words, even young listeners will be able to partake in this story, and concentrate to the finish. It's visually funny and the ending will make readers laugh aloud I suspect.Yarlett always does a fine job at illustrating, here some very sneaky animals, and some good visual touches - a fox sneaking up on another animal in the water with snorkelling equipment on made me smile.Great bedtime story, you can talk about greed, stealing and even family. For ages 2-5.With thanks to Walker Books for providing a sample reading copy.

I can see being a great source of entertainment for young readers.
It’s Mine is an amusing tale featuring Mouse, Frog, Fox, Bear, and an egg. Whilst out walking Mouse sees a large egg and declares that it must be fruit and that it is his, and so he takes it home. That is until Frog sees it and decides he needs it as it would make the perfect wheel.Next comes along Fox and then Bear all having different reasons for wanting the egg and all declaring that it is theirs. That is until something happens to it, then none of them want it!The story is a lot of fun and quite humorous. I can see little children giggling away at the animals, plus the cut our sections give the reader an added extra to enjoy. With adorable, bright, colourful illustrations throughout and a golly good plot, this is a fantastic book that I can see being a great source of entertainment for young readers.*I received a free copy of this book, which I voluntarily reviewed

Perfect
Emma Yarlett has done it again. Yet another book that’s put a great big smile on our faces. It has peek-a-boo type round apertures on a lot of the pages which just adds even more interest to the story. The illustrations are fun and colourful and made us all giggle at the characters facial expressions. As for the story, well, it’s simple, but very engaging. A round “thing” appeared one day. Mouse thought it was a fruit, so declared it as “mine, all mine” Frog saw mouse with it, and thought it was a wheel. Frog claimed it as “mine, all mine” and so the story goes on with a small list of animals all declaring the object as theirs for differing reasons. Then at the end, something happens, which I’m not going to give away, because it’s honestly a total surprise, and made us all laugh out loud. It’s a very satisfying book that leaves you feeling happy.Thank you to Walker Books for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review.
