Nice little slight upgrade over the 2nd gen
I used a second gen Freak until I dropped it off a ladder one too many times. Rather than fix the old tool, I decided I’d go for a little upgrade. It’s just like the 2nd gen but with a better light, different speed and mode settings, and a green indicator light. It also feels a little faster/more powerful on breakaway/reverse than the older 2nd gen Freak did. I’m an electrical mechanic, so I tend to really put my impact drivers through their turns, and these Bosch Freaks are fantastic for their versatility and the fact that they don’t get too hot with lots of prolonged use. Just truly great tools made for working men and women who need the versatility of having both a quarter and half inch socket at their disposal without worrying about buying and shattering socket adapters. 5/5 stars, these new Bosch tools coming out are impressive, unlike their older line ups.

Love this driver!
This a great driver! I love the 1/2" driver for sockets that don't need an adaptor. The power is great and works as it should.

Versatile
I bought this to put together a large 34x36x12 metal framed portable carport. There are a lot of metal to metal 5/16 screws. My old 12v impact driver over heated and wouldn't cut it. This one has a great variable speed trigger so you can slow down as approaching tight to not overtighten and strip. Battery life is great for what I used it for-about half the day. I really like the simplicity of the chuck, 1/4"hex bits fit in the center or 1/2 impact sockets fit the outside. I haven't used it yet as an impact but it seems to have plenty of power and NO HOSE NEEDED! It came with a very nice travel bag that holds everything with some room for bits/sockets. I have other Bosch 18v tools and the batteries are compatible with those as well. My experience with the other Bosch 18v tools is they are well made and are holding up to regular use. This impact driver is the same!

Very versatile.
Honestly, I haven't used many impacts, but this is by far the best. I used a 1400 Bosch impact for awhile, but my own blunder resulted in in it falling out of a rather high attic, and I didn't want to fiddle with fixing it just yet. I will, but still. I've used DeWalt impacts, and they don't give me the same satisfaction as this Bosch. It's a little longer than some, but its rpm and torque seems that give better success. I'm rather fond of the ergonomics, it's fairly light weight, and overall a worthy purchase.EDIT: I do want to note that it is, in my experience, good enough to put lug nuts on/off your car or truck, but brear in mind it will never be on par with dedicated lug wrenches for the task. It's just a versatile in-between that I have found excellent for it's intended purpose, and certainly sufficient for tasks that involve lug wrench applications.

Easily does the job
i got this to replace an aging Bosch 12V impact i have been using for years.i decided to go with this device due to the ability to also use 1/2" sockets. it EASILY removes properly torqued lug nuts from cars/SUV's. as a matter of fact, i just rotated the tires on 2 vehicles (40 total lug nuts) and only used 1 bar out of 3 from the 2AH battery i was using!!the bluetooth module is pretty cool for a few added features, but i'm not too sure it's an absolute necessity. but for an extra $20, why not? :)
