A gem of a cookbook
What a finding! It's a brilliant book, innovative and inventive recipes, unusual pairings and combinations that work.It is very well written too, with backgrounds and stories around the ingredients (and Alexina is so funny, is like having a friend at your side cooking with you :D).I found it extremely stimulating also in creating combinations and recipes.Definitely not only for bitter taste lovers, in some recipes bitter is prominent (chicory and radicchio based recipes, although bitterness is always balanced) but most of the recipes would suit every palate.A must for those who like to experiment in the kitchen and curious about new flavour combinations, although the majority of the recipes are easy to implement (instructions are very detailed!) also for less experienced chefs :)

One of the best cookbooks out there
Literally one of the best cookbooks I've purchased - Bitter explores how we can make delicious food by using butter flavour by focusing on 10 ingredients ranging from grapefruit to coffee and liquorice. The recipes are fantastic - there is rarely a cookbook that I have made some many things from and they all turn out incredibly well. I literally have multiple people coming back to me asking for the kale and grapefruit salad recipe. All content are very well researched - from the science to historic of the recipes and ingredients, with credit given where they are due. And the format makes it easy to decide what to make - there is even a section that re- categories all the recipes into "weekend + entertaining" "breakfast" "weeknight" etc which makes it so much easier to navigateNot only is Bitter an accomplished cookbook it is also very pretty and stylish. I can't recommend it highly enough

An exciting exploration of bitter flavours!
Alexina takes readers on a culinary journey to discover the incredible depth and complexity of bitter foods. Far from one-note, Alexina shows how bitter can enhance other flavors when used properly, leading to dishes that are bold, satisfying, and unexpectedly delicious. I have either a lot of these from cooking it myself and various supper clubs. In an approachable yet adventurous style, this book offers recipes ranging from small plates to mains, desserts and cocktails, all celebrating bitter as a centerpiece. I am excited to host dinners with menu from this book. With stunning photography and clear instructions, this cookbook makes bitter addictively tasty! Alexina convincingly shows how bitter can liven up any dish or drink, acting as a stimulating counterpoint to other flavours. Adventurous cooks looking to expand their palates will find "Bitter" an essential and exciting guide to harnessing bitterness.
