Truper 30940 4-Pound Cross Peen Hammer, Hickory Handle, 16-Inch

Tested face hardness and it was good.

4 lb #30940 did not come with the handle wrap near head as it shows. It also has a large machining nipple left in the middle of the hammer head. Al little hockey tape for the handle and a grinder to smoot out the face and it will be fine.

This is a great mid-sized hammer for all kinds of uses. Saved some money with the hickory handle but with the few times a year i use this hammer, the wooden handle should last a long long time.

If all you use this hammer for is driving wood stakes, then it will serve you well. The quality is extremely poor. The hickory handle had dark streaks which indicates it will fracture easier than a solid light color hickory handle. This hammer dented the face when I struck a piece of cold rolled steel. I do not recommend this hammer.

Received it in December. In February, barely a month later, the handle broke off at the head.

This hammer is perfect for his horse shoe yard art. The extra weight really helps to straighten or bend them.
